Oh gosh, it seems like I only get in 1 post here a month but that's ok. Let's see what I have to update on...

Lila started crawling yesterday (at exactly 10 months). She's so excited to finally be able to get where she wants to go! (before she was scooting backwards and getting very frustrated!). She has 4 teeth, top 2 and bottom 2 and can say mama, dada and ah da (all done) as well as do the sign for all done. It's pretty darn cute She's started to get separation anxiety pretty bad, when she goes to sleep I have to keep my hand on her back until she's sleeping and anytime she wakes, she screams until the second my hand is back on her back and then she falls back to sleep.

Well, that's about it!:

That is pretty familiar to me. At least we can get them back to sleep.

Hey everyone! I haven't posted in what seems like forever. Life's been a little sucky here lately and I didn't want to be a big downer. Looks like things may be coming around, though, and I'm trying to think positively.

Katie: Amazing job on the diaper! Hope your new hobby brings you some extra spending money. Couldn't beat that! And I drove a Scion XB for nearly 2 yrs. I absolutely loved it. Only reason we got rid of it was to size up to a van. We were beginning to spill out the sides.

Lactavist: I, too, am SO done with being pregnant. After DD's birth, I wasn't 100% sure, but now I am. My family feels complete. And when I see a pregnant person, I think "Aww....better her than me".

HeatherB: Georgia is doing many of the things Judah is doing. She claps alot, stands independently, walks about 8-10 steps several times a day, and says mama, dada, and we think bubba (she has 2 brothers). It is so sweet to watch her grow and do such cute, new things. She can also climb the stairs and successfully slide herself back down on her belly. I have to watch her like a hawk, though, thinking she may decide to turn around and try it once.

Jeanine: Hope the fires in your area soon subside. My dad was out there fighting fires for 2 wks. He said it was some of the hottest weather he'd ever been in.

Faliciagayle: Glad things are finally looking up for ya!

Big hugs to all of y'all with sleep issues. I'm right there with ya! Georgia takes a nap off my body like once a week. It's getting to be exhausting, but I'm trying to realize that it won't be like that forever. She is at least going to bed earlier now and tending to sleep until it's time for me to go to bed, so that's been my glimmer of hope lately.

We went to the IL's to swim and cookout today. Hope everyone had a happy 4th!

X-Post

Hello everyone! Need some help:

Hi Mamas!
I need some help. We are on day two of DS not eating. What I mean by that is, he won't nurse, he won't take a bottle or eat solids. He has 8 teeth already but this by far the worst teething episode ever. We are assuming it's teething b/c he won't let anything near his mouth, he's drooling (which he didn't even do much during the other 8), he had runny stools earlier in the week and he had a fever for about 36 hours. OH and to top it off, he won't sleep! Well, he hardly sleeps. This is a tough one usually for our already High Needs babe. We were on the verge of calling the ped last night b/c DS was sooo unconsolable but we went through the questions he would probably ask us and decided it wasn't worth it. What was he going to tell us that we haven't already tried? I did come up with the idea to feed him with a syringe and it worked. As soon as he was finished, he curled into my arms and fell asleep (after many mins. of rocking) and he slept for 4 1.2 hours, the longest in days. When he woke I was able to get him to nurse and he did for a while then back to sleep for an hour. When he woke again, he refused to nurse, only drank a little from the bottle, took very little solid food for breakfast and now being really tired, refuses to nurse or sleep.
My DH and I are at a loss not to mention exhusted.
For DS's pain we've tried homeopathy, motrin, tylenol, oral gel

Is there anything else this could be? Is there anything else we can do to make his mouth feel better? He was an early, low birth weight babe and this not eating business when all this baby likes to do is eat, makes me very nervous. If you have any suggestions, we would love to hear them.
TIA

nikkihoi

That sounds so scary

Do you think it could be hand, foot and mouth?
I was going to ask if you had ruled out a virus that would make it hurt to swallow/eat such as h-f-m or strep or a random sore throat caused by post-nasal drip/summer cold.

I hope he is better and things calm down soon.

We had the big roll off the bed incident this morning.

you guys are so smart. i would have never thought about hand foot and mouth, even though ds had that and wouldn't eat *anything*. he was almost two, and we tried *everything*. ice cream - nope. banana cream pie - nope. nikki, , i hope you get it sorted out soon.

Nikki, we had one case of suspected hand, foot, mouth disease here, with similar symptoms. The big one was the drool - it hurt to swallow so he wouldn't even swallow normal salivation. The doctor recommended a concoction that soothed his throat while the virus ran its course. I can't remember what it is now (I know it included Maalox), but I think it's definitely worth a call to the doc. They can almost certainly help you over the phone.

The other thought I have is giving him things that are COLD. Judah had a really hard time with some teeth and was inconsolable one night. My DH finally put Judah's pacifier in ice water for a while, and then he'd take it (wouldn't nurse at all) and fall asleep. So maybe for your little guy cold foods/drinks would soothe - whether it's teeth or his throat.

Hope he feels better very soon!!

Wow! That's amazing! We have no stairs so Judah has no chance to try them... But it seems much further than where he is, anyway. We've been trying to teach him to get off the couch feet-first, which sometimes seems to work, and others doesn't. Georgia is just about a month older than Judah (born 9/27), so I'm wondering if he won't be doing more of those things very soon! It is wonderful to watch them grow, isn't it? Almost makes it easier to let go of them being so little. :

when ds had it, they told us to use 1/2 maalox and 1/2 benadryl. the benadryl numbs, and the maalox coats. i *think* the dosage was a 1/2 tsp of the mixture - but he was almost two.

nikkihoi h/f/m sounds like it…DS just got over it. We had the identical symptoms. Get the fever down and keep him hydrated.
Wow…it has been so long. I can’t even remember where I left off last time. Getting ready for our trip to the shore and DS’ “actual” birthday left me zero time to get on MDC so now I am catching up

So we had h/f/m I realized on Monday when the rash finally showed up. DS had the really massive drooling, high fever, cranky as all get out and now poor nikki is dealing with the same things I see. It was misery, but now he is better and I am thankful. Amdist the h/f/m we cut the two front teeth : I am SOOOOO happy THAT is finally over! It think the lateral incisors on the bottom are next though because he’s started gnawing again BIG time. No break I guess.

So my little man (ok, 26.5 lbs. is not little) is one year old. I am still in shock. We went to the shore over the holiday 3, 4 & 5 July (just got home this afternoon) and it was really poopy weather. We got a couple hours of beach time in the day we got there and on the 4th, but it was pretty overcast and chilly most of the time. By the afternoon DS was in the water up to his mid-shins but only briefly because it was really cold and I didn’t want him to get sick again. The biggest news is that he SLEPT!! OMG!! I was SO worried about that. He’s never slept in his pack n’ play and refuses to sleep in our bed anymore but he actually slept away from home. The first night was rough because he didn’t want us in the room – who is this kid?? but the second night was better only because I think he was exhausted and stopped caring. He did his usual 3 am wakeup and then woke up again at 5:30 but decided he’d give me one more hour and cuddle with me in bed…what an angel When we woke up finally DH was staring at us smiling. He said I was smiling in my sleep I just can’t get enough of this baby boy…I swear!!

So I’m going to upload some pics and hopefully get back over here with them tonight, but no promises. I’m pretty pooped!! Missed you all so much!!

mrsb422 it is good to hear from you!

I hope sunshine's mam is around. I haven't heard from her in a bit.

Our zucchini are taking over the place already! We don't have any fruit (veg) yet but lots of giant blooms. The melons were planted right nex to the compost pile just like last year and are also huge!

Dh just left to go to the fireworks and took our 5 yo for the first time. I so wanted to get a babysitter for the kids and go with just him. They are going to the mexican restaurant halfway up the river bluff and will have a great view. I am home with two sick kiddos and looking forward to quiet evening by myself.

mrsb, what was the cake design? I probably have missed it in the old thread! Marty is so adorable! Great pics, all of them! I can't believe Judah will be one in just a few months... It's too fast!!

My DH has never been one to ask for more kids... He's always freaked when we come up pg. So no help there! You can always just say you need more time - not "no," just "not now." Ya know?
