Anyone Else for Some Nostalgia?

I'm already starting to get sentimental about the newborn quirks that will soon be fading.. that I'll eventually end up forgetting all about. Fiona is most likely my last baby (we plan on adopting a fourth child, but most likely a toddler). After she was born, I delighted in remembering all those adorable little oddities that I had totally forgotten that my older children did.. then I realized that soon enough I'll forget what she's like as a tiny baby. It's inevitable.. and it makes me so sad!

Anyone else already starting to think about these things? What will you miss the most?

The snorts, the snuffles..
The old lady wrinkles..
Dozens of expressions crossing her face in just a few seconds..
The squeaks, the newborn cry..
The downy fuzz on her head..
The so soft skin that's always warm..
The bewildered look on her face as her arms fly across her field of vision..
The goofy, milk-drunk grin, with eyes half-rolling up in her head..

Oh, the rooting! I forgot that one. My boys think it's a riot that when I pretend to eat Fiona's neck, she turns her head and tries to latch onto my cheek. They giggle and say, "Mommy, Fiona's trying to gobble you up, too!"

Yup, my baby's already gained 2 and a half pounds and is visibly getting bigger and it's making me sad, in a bitter-sweet kind of way.

Oh completely. This is my first and (likely) last infant—my son was adopted at 19 months—and I get so sad with how much she changes every day. I love, love, love the newborn stage, and part of me wishes she would stay this squishy and squeaky forever. My favorite is the snorting root. Too funny!

How they fold up their little legs all adorable and squished no matter how you hold them.

Watching the "potential chub lines" on their wrists and arms fill out after birth with breastmilk chub.

Teeny newborn ears.

Duck-fuzzy hair.

OMG ... my boys have already lost that "my skin is too big for me" look. They are getting CHUBBY!!!!:

something else I had already forgotten, until I looked back at their pictures was when they were jaundiced. It's funny how I was so worried about that ..... yet I forgot so quickly.

Ivy has gained 2 lbs and 1 inch and I feel like I am already forgetting what she looked like and felt like right when she was born.

I've been keeping a journal, trying to write down all the little snorkles and faces and goofy things that she does. I am taking her in as much as possible because I know this phase will end and I will miss it!!

Even though I want to see her grow and blossom, I also want to keep her tiny like this and just hug her forever. Oh, those little feet and how she hugs onto me like a little frog with her legs curled up. Those little noises and her soft, soft skin. And the way she smells - just divine!

We keep saying we are going to video tape her some more to get her little noises and faces on tape and we keep forgetting. I am going to get the camera out and do that today before she grows even more!

I love the way they sometimes arch their backs in a stretch when you pick them up, head and butt back, legs curled up, arms over the head.

I'm feeling pretty sad that this may be my last and thinking it may have to not be.

The froggy look with their legs.....
The booby dance- This is what we call it when Billy is hungry and begins head bobbing on my shoulder and trying to latch on my arm.
The little tiny bum that is only an inch and a half wide.
The snorts....so cute.

Us too! I did manage to video her stretching as she woke up, but I've got to get the alert looks and the hungry looks. Here's Fiona stretching:

[i just noticed that there are two nora(h) babies here! yay!]

norah is 8 weeks as of tomorrow. i am so sad that two months have already pass. she's gained 2 pounds and 5 ounces. she doesn't fit in any preemie clothes anymore...all newborns now! she's still a peanut though...

i am so going to miss the noises. she makes one when she's lying in her bassinet sleeping and it sounds like she's giggling.

random baby smiles.

when she's rooting she will litterally push herself off to the side of me and fall. thank god i've caught her. she has some force!

speaking of rooting...she's latched on to daddy's nose when he's kissed her!

her puppy wrinkles. and baby smell. i could smell her all day.

*sigh* i want another one now. lol.

Oh I LOVE the arching!!! And the "booby dance" lol!

But I love life when they are 3m even more than I love these things... they are sweet, but this time is hardest for me. Thanks for the sweet reminders of all the wonderful things they do - if she didn't have siblings, I'd be content to camp in this stage for a while.
