One Hour Glucose Screen: what to eat? - Page 2

I have my glucose screening next week. However, the mw told me that I don't have to drink the glucola. I have to fast from midnight, go in and get a finger prick first thing in the morning, go eat a big breakfast and then go back 2 hours later for another finger prick. I'm looking forward to my big breakfast! I'm going to have eggs and pancakes. or maybe waffles.

I just got my results of the glucose test I had today and I failed. : I'm so mad and now I have to take the 3 hour one. Arrgh, I want to scream. After drinking the 50g of glucose, I had a 171. :

I had the test in the morning, so I didn't eat anything prior. I think I have to fast for the 3 hour one, don't I? Ugh... I barely passed the 3 hour one last time I took it. I'm so freaking mad, I really don't have time to sit at the dumb lab for 3 hours or drag myself back and forth when I have 4 kids to tend to.

Okay, got that off my chest. Rant over.

Flippin Failed Too

Hubby joked that it was the first test I ever failed (actually not technically true). I didn't eat before going in since my appt was at 0900 and got a 175. I have my 3 hour GTT a week from today and am really hoping I pass.

I'm all for women not taking the test if they want to opt out, but there are a few reasons why it's so inaccurate. My OB told me today that up to 25% of pregnant women fail the one hour, but only 15% of those actually end up failing the 3 hour.

I've got to say I'm bummed. Me and my toddler sure aren't going to enjoy the 3 hour wait in the lab. Hehe.
