I really agree that it has so much to do with the child. My older DD would listen very well at this age, and my youngest thinks it's all a huge joke. "Silly mama! Why would I hold your hand in the street?" It's very, very frustrating. The one thing that makes a difference for us is consistency - if I'm lax about it one time, the next time she's not interested. I only really worry bout the biggies like safety issues, I think if I stressed everything I'd go crazy with her!
