: I'm off bedrest!!!!! :

They told me that today I could officially go off of bedrest, but I actually went off a day early. Yesterday was our dear friend's funeral (Oh MAN was that rough! Hard enough when NOT hormonal! I was a WRECK!). After the funeral, we went to lunch and then came home to rest a bit. Then we decided to go to the mall and walk - see if we can get things going. (Yes, I'm 36 weeks, but we are DONE! Done with the stress of this pregnancy, and since we were given a green light as soon as I was 36 weeks...) I had been having contractions all day anyway - every 23 minutes. Well, all the walkign did was make them stronger for about 3 hours, but not closer together. And they lasted until 10:30 last night, then I fell asleep (They weren't really strong...), so I dunno if they stopped then or after. I do know that I had 2 after I got up to pee around 2:30 am, but I haven't had any since waking up this morning. BUT the good news about being off of bedrest today is that MY FLOORS ARE GONNA GET MOPPED! LOL I never thought that I would ever SO look forward to mopping my floors, but I seriously can't wait til naptime (so DS doesn't "get in the way and run over the wet floors) so that I can sweep and mop my floors! LOL

And maybe TMI, but not only am I off bedrest, but I am off pelvic rest as well! : DH and I are gonng DTD for the first time in, geez, I can't even recall now! 7-8 weeks, I think it's been!

Just got back from the mw. GBS +
So... now I have to decide about the antibiotics. The mw said if my water breaks I need to go to the hospital immediately. I SO don't want to do that! Apparently going home after getting an antibiotic treatment is not acceptable. :
Anyone have any experience on this one? The search function for Birth and Beyond seems to be on the fritz.
I REALLY don't want to go to the hospital early!

Materfamilias,

I also tested GBS+. I am denying antibiotics and I will not be going to the hospital early. Mothering wrote a great article about GBS that helped me make my decision:

38 weeks 6days here and in shock that I am still pregnant I was on bedrest for preterm labour. This has been my longest pregnancy out of 4 babies now.
I have had promordal labour for a few weeks but after my last mdiwife appointment she informed me all those contractions have done nothing to my cervix
Spent the night in the bathroom last night feeling horrible so maybe thats a good sign Guess time will tell. Its supposed to rain today and I am so excited for a break in the heat maybe I will get to see my ankle bone today lol

I forget what my ankles look like too! I haven't seen them in so long!

38wks 6 days (or 39wks6days) depending on who's dates you follow. Either way I'm still pregnant, very frustrated, and bordering on depressed. I've gone way longer into pregnancy (entering wks 40 and 41 regularly) but I'm just having a very hard time functioning right now. I think baby is head down ATM. I am up all night with those dumb contrax and then a real witch all day wtih the kids and dh. It's a shame for us all. I want to bury myself in a hole....

I'm due tomorrow! I don't feel like i'm having a baby soon though, other than the constant "cleaning out" bathroom trips. I'm looking forward to all the 4th of July festivities (and food this weekend.

I think DD finally fell asleep for her nap. We may hit the mall and do some mama shopping later! I want to get some stretchy shorts to wear PP. My friend said old navy has cute ones for like $6.50. May get another nursing tank too. I guess that will be my new uniform wish I could find some cute sundresses that are suitable for nursing too.

I was on the phone with my mom before and I was lugging a laundry basket of diapers up the stairs at the same time. I must have been out of breath because she asked me if I was in labor very calmly and all, it was funny.

It is so hot here, I have to go install the infant seat in the car, and clean out the car in general but I really don't want to drag myself out of the a/c!

eta: I made spicy thai curry for lunch and it feels like the baby is trying to claw his way out now! Guess someone does not like spicy food.

36 weeks today! : 1 more week til full term baby!

So, my mw didn't call yesterday, meaning that Monday's GBS test must have been negative, woo!

No signs of labor here, but hey, I'm 36 weeks, so I'm totally fine with that.

We've just now started packing stuff to take and we're planning on finishing up the baby room stuff this weekend, fresh paint, curtains, organizing. I guess I should start washing dipes and baby things!

Wishing everyone close ELV!

Thought I'd join in the fun here, even though my EDD isn't until late July, and I'll likely be in the group that goes on into August. And actually, I'm *really* hoping I don't go early, because DH has to be out of town (3-4 hr drive) on the 18th-19th to take an exam. So I'm telling baby she has to hunker down and get comfy until at least the 20th!! We'll see.

On the other hand, I'm measuring large for dates on ultrasound (greater than the 90th percentile, ~7.1lbs at 35 weeks), and today my OB (who is generally really good and non-interventionist) said that "depending on how things look" (not entirely sure what that means, only thing she mentioned specifically was the degree of ripening of my cervix), she would be less comfortable with me going past 41 weeks, and might start considering induction around then. She didn't really want to talk about it today--she seems to want to wait.

So, baby has about a 2 week window we're really shooting for, and starting on the 20th, DH and I are going to start all the natural induction methods we can think of (and he's looking forward to doing his part ) ....

EXAHUSTED over here... and no reason to be! I'm sleeping loads. And I'm sooo very thankful for an almost 3 year old whom entertains herself.

We did managed to start cleaning the bedroom and master closet over the last couple days. We still haven't fully unpacked from moving almost 6 months ago and the bedroom was HORRIBLE I'm planning on labouring in the birthpool in my dining room but I'm not sure I'm going to birth there. And I wanted my bedroom CLEAN for after anyways.

I still need to wash those birth towels and put together the birth baskets (everything is just sitting in bags) and there's still a couple things I need to get.

And I really really want to clean, vaccum and run the carpet cleaner over the car before installing the carseat. But I want DH's help and he's not being much on that one. But he's a fantastic help everywhere else anyways.

Now if only his dad would pay his rent so we can go get some groceries tonight I would be much happier to have food in the house

But I really don't mind being preggers. Sure I'm not feeling the greatest but if that went away I'd be ok. And I'm getting annoyed by EVERYONE asking every 5 minutes how I'm feeling!

same here! I am 38wk4d. I'm not that impatient for her to come out except for the fact that my Dr is already talking about induction (my bp is high and my fluid level is falling). DH has a 3-day weekend so I guess I will have to enlist his help for some natural induction!

Well, 40.2 today and still no signs that shes comming any time soon. We had an awesome thunder and lightning storm last night - stunningly beautiful, and I was sooo hoping the barometric pressure change would kick things into gear! I actually even had about an hour and a half of ctx that were about 5 - 8 minutes apart, but of course, they went away and have yet to return.

I'm starving today! And have been totally self indulgent too, which I'd been pretty darn good about up untill the last week or so. But the left over thin mint girl scout cookies were just calling to me, and there wasnt anything I could do about it!

My poor mom seems to be the one getting the most of the "has she had the baby yet" and "you'll call us when she's in labor, right" phone calls! Its been pretty amusing. My mom has good intentions and knows I'm not going to want extra people over here. Its pretty funny though! I guess everyones afraid that we wont call them! Too funny.

Have a MW apt this afternoon. Not really sure what there is to do but wait for the baby at this point. But I'm sure all is well.

Well, I'm still here. I'm 37w3d and I'm just here. I go back and forth... Sometimes I'm ready for baby other times I freak out thinking about what I want to get done before he/she arrives!

My longest pg was 38w2d so I can't wait to see how far I'll go with this one. I was shooting for the week of the 14th... It'll probably be before then though.

The one thing we really really need to get is car seats. One for the new babe and another for ds. We have to fit 3 car seats in the back and the only way to do that is to get at least 2 new seats. Oh joy. Other than that, I think we're pretty set as far as essentials... I would like to get the changing table in the house and the babies clothes all put away though.

Here's hoping all those mamas who are "patiently" waiting for their LO's to arrive are holding them soon!

I'm happy for all the former bedresting mamas that are still pregnant and off bedrest! (and pelvic rest ) I spent 6 weeks on bedrest during my pregnancy with DS and was so happy when it was done and that he was still inside.

Thanks for the tip! I need to get out and do that too.

Lots of exhaustion here, but I'm only a bit over 36 weeks so I've got a few more weeks to go. Kids are still nursing strong, so it looks like I'll definitely be triandem nursing in a few more weeks. Never thought I'd be there!

OMG, I have been a total demon today. I think my hormones are affecting everyone in the house, too (and there's a lot of people here!). We all seem to be b*tchy and out of sorts.

I have... NO... idea what I am going to do for PP clothes. I have nothing in the way of pants. I also have very little for shirts. And, of course, ZERO money to get anything even at a thrift store. I anticipate being mainly in my PJ pants and huge T-shirts for the first week or so, and just not leaving the house. I guess I will just safety pin my maternity pants or wear a maternity dress (and definitely nurse in private...) if I have to go anywhere, and after awhile I will see if anyone can go dig some of my pre-pregnant clothes out of the storage unit. And then hit the thrift store in a few weeks. : Funny, I'd barely thought of this angle. I think my mind is really starting to believe my body will be pregnant forever.

Had my doc appt. it was a resident woman doc (my OB is a man) which was a nice change. Incidentally she went by the U/s date and said I was 36w 6 days and that I am good to go. Baby is really low and apparently not a 10 pounder like everyone insinuates! LOL
She also said the pea sized bump inside is most likely a B-something cyst and very common - there are holes where a woman secretes from and a lot of times cells build up and cause these. Sometimes they can get infected but I would notice if that was happening. Otherwise they just get reabsorbed. She said to have them look better once I start getting cervical checks. BP fine. All pretty boring actually! LOL . I was also swabbed for GBS so I am crossing my fingers that it is a negative. I don't recall having this done for my first 2. Anyway, that's the update.
Still lots of pelvic pressure today so hopefully I don't have to walk around for another month like this! :-)

Still pg, for now. But hoping for an early arrival!
I am going to have to wear maternity clothes for the rest of the summer. No way will my "regular" clothes fit me, not with my penchant for gaining 50+ per pregnancy. I work from home, so I can wear PJ bottoms...
And I'll be wearing my maternity tees and tanks forever... haha, nice and long.

I'm 38w3d. Nothing is going on, except lots and lots of BH contractions and some on again, off again menstrual cramps. My ankles are actually so swollen, there is a mini-roll of puff flapping over my foot. They resemble cartoon fred flintstone feet.
Very sexy.

My due date is today, and... nothing. I still feel fine. My parents arrived yesterday and MIL today, and we spent most of the time playing with DD and making them feel at home. I did some diaper laundry, DH helped me install a fan, I put up some more bookshelves while my mom did some painting with DD, we went out for sushi (mmmm!) for dinner and then to Borders, Lowes, etc. for last minute stuff. Tomorrow I think we're going to the 4th of July parade in our town.

I'm in no real hurry, actually enjoying this time before my son is born to get some stuff done (cause I know it'll NEVER get done after!!), but hoping it happens before my dad has to go home. He missed the last one, too.

We've planned some fun stuff this week so I won't feel so much like I'm just sitting around waiting. Friday we'll go to the parade and Saturday the zoo or the water park depending on weather. If I haven't had baby by Sunday, my neighbor Keleigh is going to do belly henna on me! That will be very exciting.

Thinking of all you mamas who are close to your due dates and wishing you the best!
