DS is going to be 2 and a half next month and is still nursing occasionally. I've had a ton of bad experiences throughout my nursing journey but I've had two great nursing experiences in the last week and had to share.
Last weekend I was in line to pay for a birthday cake for my best friend and it was going slowly. DS was sitting in the cart and an older couple got in line behind us and I was actually kind of irked because they were crowding us so much. Well DS started talking up a storm to them and somehow we got into a conversation about how I strip DS down to let him have fun while he eats his pudding and to my surprise the husband tells me how his wife would like that, she's a beach girl and would live in a bathing suit if she could.....I guess less is more for her when it comes to clothes
He tells me that she's from Europe and how they both think Americans are too uptight about the human body. I took that opportunity to bring up the fact that DS still nurses and how people give me a hard time when I NIP and I agree that we, as a country, are much too uptight about the human body. She proceeds to congratulate me for perservering (?) and nursing a toddler for so long even when it's not popular. She nursed all 5 of her kids!!
That conversation just made my heart happy.
My second nice nursing story is that this week I was copied on one of those "what are you wearing? When did you last poop? what is your favorite book?" e-mails from my aunt. One of the women she sent it to replied and copied everyone on the original e-mail. I was bored so I read her responses and I was blown away by her response to "What is your favorite smell?"
Answer:A breastfed baby
:
Life is good sometimes....I'm going to go snuggle my baby now, I feel warm and happy.
OOOHHHH and just an FYI-Rhode Island is in the process of trying to pass a BF Law!!!!! Keep your fingers crossed for us and pray that I don't look like an idiot when I go to the committee meeting to lobby for this bill
