Need soap suggestions

Thread Starter
I have very sensitive skin and have had to use real soap from the health food store for years. Well I'm almost out of soap and no money to buy more soap! (not to mention the nearest place I can buy soap is 45 miles away!) so I'm stuck buying something from the local grocery store where I have catalinas that need to get used up. Anything thing strongly scented makes me sneeze like crazy and Dial, Ivory and Safeguard make me itch. Any suggestions for a soap?

For anyone who is curious this is the soap I've been using for years and love it, the clove is really nice!

Maybe Kirk's Castille Soap? It's $1.29 at my regular grocery store - not super cheap, but better than others. I don't know about the scent though - it's very light, but it may be too much for you. Just a suggestion.

If your grocery store sells "Kiss my face" (it might be with the other soaps, or it might be in the 'healthfoods' section of the store) products, their olive oil soap is quite pure, and you can get the unscented version. Good stuff.

I have skin sensitivities as well. Finding the right soap is a blessing.

Good luck in your search.

I used to use Oil of Olay for sensitive skin before I switched to natural soap bars. It worked ok but was a tad drying. If you have a CVS nearby they have Oil of Olay specials quite often.

Soap isn't that hard to make. You need fat and lye. I used crisco and Red Devil Lye both of which should be available at your local grocery store. There are lots of things you can use for the fat component. Google for instruction.
