Sergers and diaper making (x posted)

Thread Starter
I originally posted this in the Sew, Serger and Embroider forum, but I didn't get any bites. Just hoping for a little bit of advice on starting out.

I just recently got a new serger and I've been making baby wipes and diaper doublers to get a feel for it, but pretty soon would like to have a go at making a fitted diaper. Which stitch should I use- a 3-thread overlock or a 4-thread?

Also, say I'm using a solid color outer fabric, what would look best- a matching (or close as possible) thread for the loopers, or a lighter shade of the same color for a contrast? Should the needle thread match the loopers, or do you prefer to use a different shade or color for effect? <snip>

TIA for any help!

I think most of these are up to personal preference. If I want a narrower edge, I use a three thread overlock. If I want a thicker edge, four threads. I hate threading my serger, so I keep off white or white on my lower looper, and two needles, and just switch out my upper looper with different colored thread. You can find some really neat verigated thread, which I think makes a very nice looking fitted diaper. Other wise, I would probably go for a contrasting color, but again, it's all up to preference.
