I have been CDing for 5 months. I am looking to buy some fleece doublers because i hear they absorb well and the baby doesn't feel too wet with 'em. can these be made? if so, could someone tell me what i need and what i should or shouldn't do. any advise at this point would be greatly appreciated.

i want to use the doublers for naps and nighttime. i use prefold and Bummis SWW. as of yet, i haven't made the leap of faith and use CD for nights. but i just feel ridiculous use disposables at night especially when i think the CD works better. i just don't want my LO to feel uncomfortable.
Thanks!

What you are probably talking about are "fleece topped doublers". Most fleece (polyester stuff you see in the fabric stores) will either let liquids run right through or actually hold the liquids next to the skin. I know it's confusing, but I'll try to break it down:

If you want to make a stay dry feeling doubler you could:

Use an absorbent fabric (flannel is widely available), or toweling, or even another prefold and then top it with microfleece (a very thin fleece that lets liquids run through to the soaker keeping the baby feeling dry).

or

Use an organic fleece like hemp fleece which is NOT polyester and IS absorbent. It won't keep the baby feeling dry, though, and you would still want to top it with microfleece or the more widely available suedecloth (alova suede or butter suede in local stores) to keep the skin feeling dry.

For more explanations of fabric you can read through the informational articles on my blog: http://sewyourown.blogspot.com

Hope that helps!
