CO for face

Please tell me why I should use CO as a facial moisturizer.

A bit of background:

I'm in my 40's, I had teenage acne then clear skin (not perfect but OK) till around 38-cystic acne started, maybe hormonal. Had 1st child at 39, acne started before pregnancy and continued till ds was 3. During the acne time I explored many treatments, conventional and natural. Skin finally started clearing when I started washing with honey and using honey and aspirin masks.

I'm completely sold on honey for cleaning and will use nothing else. But...I've had a hard time giving up my glycolic acid moisturizer, i get good results from it.

I'm in love with CO for many reasons, cooking, body moisture, bath oil, hair conditioner, baby bum, the list goes on...

I'v decided to use it as a facial moisturizer and have given it a try...I'm not completely sold.

Is it just an adjustment period? Am I going through withdrawals from the previous moisturizer?

How long should I use it before making a descision? Is it good for eyecream?

Please convince me, and if not any other natural moisturizers?

BTW, my skin has some very sensitive areas.

Thanks for the Help

Sandra.

Also, we are TTC and the last thing I want is to go through 4 years of acne again. I'm thinking that the honey and aspirin will help, but a good moisturizer is important too.

I am guessing CO stands for Coconut oil, if I am wrong ignore me How is your skin reacting to the CO? Is there a reason you feel there is an adjustment period? I use CO as my facial moisturizer and love it, although I have only battled mild acne. If you don't think the CO is for you I think I heard from someone on here that Shea Butter was good for acne prone skin. I hope you find what works for you and don't have to deal with the pg acne again

I'm sure everyone's skin needs are different, but I can tell you that I, at 39 with cystic acne and sensitive skin issues, use honey to wash my face and use CO regularly all over, including my face, usually at bedtime. No problems with it, even with areas that have been problematic in the past. I also use yogurt as a mask (awesome, for me!) You could try just a little and see how it works for you. Good luck.

Hey, thanks for the replies.

Yes, I mean coconut oil, sorry

Why I'm thinking that there might be an adjustment period is that my skin is a little surface bumpy, not as smooth as usual(it's never perfect but is usually fairly smooth. I'm wondering if it could be going off the daily glycolic acid that is doing it.

I'm willing to give it some time, but I'm worried about ending up with a mess on my face. I don't mind the odd zit or blotchy spot, but if there is something about CO that would make it not good for my skin I would like to know now rather than finding out the hard way. I guess I was wondering if anyone has had any nasty results from it. Glad to hear that others are using it and are fine.

I've tried she butter and it seems too rich a moisturizer for me but thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I'll try it in the winter, especially if it's good for acne prone skin.

I forgot to mention that I'm using diluted ACV for toner.

The yogurt mask sounds awsome! What do you do? What does it do?

Yogurt mask is just full-fat organic yogurt, maybe a tablespoon, rubbed over my face. It "sets" pretty fast and usually I don't wash it off - it seems to make my skin very soft. (Lactic acid?) About half the time I also add a few drops of lime or lemon juice to the mix. This in hopes of lightening the acne scars. The whole treatment is based on something I read somewhere, tried, and found to get instant, positive results. For me, it has not aggravated or contributed to my acne issues at all (they seem to be hormone-related.)

If your skin seems to have any need for exfoliating I highly recommend honey. Slather it on, leave for as long as you can stand it (my DD is getting used to seeing me walking around with food on my face) and scrub it off with warm water.

Thanks for the info

I think that my face just needs extra exfoliating right now.

I'm going to try the yogurt thing tonight, I make my own yogurt so it should be good.

Wish me luck
