Sigh...herpes outbreak and due in a week

So I officially have an outbreak...BUT it is on my upper butt/lower back. So I am hoping this isn't going to be an issue. Only thing is I am planning a waterbirth, and am not sure of the risks of transmission via water.

Like I need this now on top of everything else! :

Is it collidial silver that can help kill the infection? Maybe adding tea tree oil to the water? Or perhaps only laboring in water but pushing elsewhere. You could perhaps push in the shower so you still have the water but aren't submersed?

I wouldn't worry about transmission through water. Maybe you can add something to the water?

I'm on Valtrex for the last few weeks of pg just in case. That's really a bummer for you, but it sounds like it's not in a bad location. My mw said if I had an outbreak and it was external, we could just cover the sores with something (I guess it's like liquid latex?) and that would block transmission.

I'm not a professional, but I remember reading a discussion of midwives somewhere talking about women with certain types of infections (vaginaly mostly) delivering in water, and how some of them thought it was actually preferrable to land b/c it dilutes the bacteria instead of concentrating it all in one spot that babe is sure to pass through.
