"Required" to be part of vaccine registry?

A friend who uses the same ped office I do said that at her last visit, she was asked to register her son for the state vaccine registry (she declined). But she was told that soon registering would be required. I assumed it was a stupid new rule of the practice, but the ped told her it was NY state that would require it. Is he bs-ing or is that true?

a vaccine registry????!!!!!! i am very close to taking my chld and LEAVING THIS COUNTRY

I am terrified that someone is going to come to my house and forcibly inject me with an experimental vaccine ...vaccine manufacturers are free of liability,....that's really creepy

I just don't feel safe anymore...i am sick of the fact that pharmecutical companies are literally causing massive damage to children with vaccines and many americans on multiple pharmecuticals...

now they want a registry to make sure they can FORCE injections and pharmecuticals ....i hesitate at this point and wonder if i should take that concentration camp scenario i keep hearing about seriously....if we refuse this unwanted medicine...will we be hauled of and put in camps??? I think this vaccine registry can only suit the purpose of tracking people and using this information to force people into compliance....i am tired of all these vaccines...it's getting ridiculous!!!

I _think_ I read that opting out of some state's vaccine registries will stop being possible soon. Your child's data will be there regardless--not sure if there's a way to make it less accessible (though for that matter, I'm not sure who-all has access now). All states have different rules (and different opt-out procedures--some are still opt-in, I believe, so parents have to check a box somewhere to opt-in, but that's rare)--so hopefully someone from NY will chime in.

Read this thread, it's about the changes in NY's vaccine registry.

I'm in Indiana, and apparently we are put in the registry automatically. We were never asked about it, and it was never mentioned to me. I found out about it through my DH who realized his employer uses the registry (Head Start preschool). He had a coworker search for our son and sure enough, he was on there. (with red text next to the vax's he was "behind" on.. we stopped vaxing him at 6 mos).

I was able to find the website and print the form to opt out of the registry (it's called CHIRP in Indiana), and after we sent in the form my husband checked again and our son's record was gone. Who knows if it put us on some secret black list somewhere... the whole thing is very creepy to me

How do you get in these registries? My son has never been to a mainstream doctor. He was born at home (midwife was 5 minutes late so I don't wanna say with a midwife. ) and I only take him to an ND. She doesn't even take insurance so I know she doesn't register stuff. I did have the newborn testing done as my 1/2 sister had Cystic Fibrosis and I wanted to make sure he didn't. Otherwise I don't see how they would have his info.

In FL, they automatically register a newborn and the only way you can stop it is to access the State's website to obtain a form (or get it from the local county health department) and sumbit it to the County Health Dept. I think they started it around 2003.

Wow! I have never heard of such a thing as a vaccine registry. I'll see if Michigan has one for sure. If so, an opting out will shortly be in order.

Michigan has a registry, but you can opt out by sending in this form:

Oooh- thank you for that link! I knew MI had an opt-out for our registry, but nobody IRL believed me and I was never able to find it for myself. Printing it out right now- going in the mail first thing Monday.

I had no idea about this...come to find out we have a mandatory registry in Georgia, too...

I'm wondering how long it will be before this registry is used against parents for not vaccinating their kids...you know, "public health risk" and all, and soon we'll be issued fines or warrants or something.

I tried to access the Opt-Out form on the GA Dept of Health link, but wouldn't you know it, the page is unavailable!

Does Oregon have a registry?
do you think it's possible...if your not in the vaccine registry they would want to know why and being that they don't have your information they would make you vax for everything?? I am wondering what is better...to be on or off this list???

I'd be interested to know about Oregon too. Anyone?

I'm pretty sure this is a yes, Oregon *has* a registry and no, it's not optional.

ALERT has created a brochure for parents that providers distribute in the clinic setting. ALERT also notifies parents about the registry through a packet of information sent to each newborn in Oregon. Parents who receive shot reminders will also receive information about ALERT.
When can a child’s information be removed or restricted from ALERT?
The law allows authorized parents or guardians to exempt their children from ALERT for health and safety reasons. Contact ALERT directly to exempt your child, 1-800-980-9431.
I have never received any information on this, nor have I received any notices that my unvaxed 20 month old needs shots.

So I would think it is peds that enter children into the system and we have never been to one.

But then again,

County health departments and health plans submit immunization information electronically. ALERT continually merges all of this data to create a complete immunization record.
Hrm. We didn't have insurance until DS was 14 months old. I am hoping he is not in it. But this really pisses me off.

It is optional if you can opt out, which you can.

And I am not sure what a SSN has to do with it since this registry is state and SSN's are federal.

I'm still not convinced I would call it optional since the only "acceptable reasons" to opt out are for "health and safety reasons". I can't think of anything which they even might consider to fall into this category.

This link should work for the GA form, I just downloaded it and will be mailing it in tomorrow!
