Daybed as a couch?

I'm looking for a natural sofa. I was wondering if I could buy a natural cotton twin mattress and use a daybe frame for a couch. I was thinking of a bi-folding futon couch but for this, I will have to buy a mattress with a latex core, which is very expensive.
Are daybeds as comfortable as sofas to sit on as a full time sofa? Thanks!

The one I had as a child was okay, but not great. If you really pile on the pillows, that helps a lot. Also, I'd think a mattress pad would help, too.

I'm sure you could do this, but I think a twin bed's width (which would be the couch's depth) is considerably more than the depth of a standard sized couch. Your legs may not be able to dangle off this 'couch' unless you sit up quite close to the edge. (Picture a small child sitting on a regular couch with their legs straight out in front of them.) Maybe you could put gigantic pillows behind you, but it might not be comfortable. If you don't have one in your home, go to a store and sit on a twin bed. You'll see what I mean.

You could definitely sit on it, but I don't think it would feel like sitting on a couch.
