Well, you CAN, but if you use too much it could stain the skin!
I wouldn't advise it.
Some people have used wax crayons, although I never have so I can't attest to that.
I use herbs such as ground rosemary, tumeric (makes a great color!) , Ground cloves, kelp, clay etc...
Look in your kitchen and I'm sure you'll find something!
Just don't use something really spicey like chili pepper!
