Okay, so here is my dilemma...(sorry if you have heard this before). My RE order 100mg of clomid for our first IUI ever (side note: I've never taken clomid before in my life) and it kinda scares me to start off with the higher dose, but I'm sure she knows what she is talking about and they are going to be monitoring me with an U/S on CD12. She told me if I feel more comfortable taking the 50mg instead of the 100mg that is fine, but my fear is that if I take the 50mgs I might kick myself b/c it may not be enough, but if I decide to take the 100mgs and it too much then I'll wish I took the 50mgs. So then I thought maybe I could compromise and meet in the middle and take 75mgs, but I'm not even sure if you can do that, anyone know? This whole 50/100 thing has become this stupid fight I have going on in my head right now that I just can't resolve. I just wish that I had a magic lamp that could tell me what is right to do. So am I crazy to be thinking like this??? What would you do if you were in my situation??? I know everyone has their own opinion, but I'd love to hear it. TIA

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

blueyezz4, you're not crazy! I think taking 75 is perfectly reasonable! My dose has been 25mg, so I take half a tablet. The tablets are easy to break in half because they have a line/crease down the middle, so you can just snap them in two.
75mg is a compromise between your two sides of the coin. I think it's a great idea!

Thanks biomama!! I wasn't even sure if you could split the pills in half so that is good to know. I guess I really need to work on getting those ordered here soon b/c not this week but next I will have to start taking them.

For my first cycle on clomid (50mg, and it was actually my first time EVER on fertility meds), I only produced ONE egg (and I usually OVER RESPOND), I would say to take the 100mg, and if you dont get your bfp this cycle (I'm SURE you will though
Then think about reducing it next month, Clomid builds up in your system, The month I stopped clomid after 5 months of 50mg, I produced 3 eggs. That is just my opinion though, you can DEFINITLY take 75 mg if it makes you more comfortable though, its actually a good compromise. Good Luck!

Statistically, most people who get pregnant taking clomid are only taking the 50 mg dose. Some of the side effects of clomid *decrease* your fertility, and this is exasperated with higher doses. So, I always think it's wise to start at the 50 mg level unless there's a really obvious reason to start at a higher dose.

Thanks for the other opinions!!! It is always good to hear others experiences with the drug. I'm still up in the air about it and just hoping I don't have to make the decision at all!! We will see in a day or so if AF shows up!! My RE said that they give 50mg to women who aren't Ovulating and 100mg to the ones that are ovulating and aren't getting prego (which would be me for 2 yrs now) so we will see. My DH is pushing for the 100mg b/c he wants twins (easy for him to say!!!!) he is a triplet. I've always wanted twins, but it does scare me when I see what friends go through with only one baby at first!! It is not in my hands though, one day at a time!!! Thanks again!! Good luck to all of you!!
