How can I do my own newborn footprints?

I want to do DD's feet before she grows... does anyone have experience doing their own? Any tips you could possibly offer me? Thanks so much!!

There are so many ways you can do it, depending on how you want it done.

The cheap way, a black marker colored on her foot and then stamped onto a paper. Ink pad would work even better.

Then there is paint. The only prints that I have from my daughter that we lost are on a quilt that I made for my mom. I dipped my daughter's foot in fabric paint and then "walked" her across a patch of cloth. It really is so cute. And I wish I could now ask for it back.

Easy as pie, I do it for all my homebirth clients. Washable stamp pad from craft store ( I carry blue and hot pink), nice art paper, baby wipes. Press baby feet to stamp pad one at a time to coat completely. Stamp two or three pieces of paper (will be a bit lighter each time). Baby wipe to remove ink from foot fast. I can do both feet in under three minutes. They don't like it much, because they don't like you holding feet that long usually.

If you are ordering hb supplies anyway, inhishands sells a disposable inker for a couple of bucks. We got that and a couple of the 75 cent decorative birth certs - in case we made a mistake on the first! - and it worked out just great!

Dh went to the office supply store on the morning of my first UC and picked up a black inkpad ... it was big enough for baby's foot so we dipped his feet - one at a time - onto pretty card stock that I purchased for just this thing ... and voila! Baby wipes got most of the ink off while baby was still sleeping and the rest I got off later when he woke up. Easy breezy!
