Mucus Plug (sorry if TMI)

Ok, so I am going to go there with the mucus plug question.

Yesterday I thought I might have lost a little bit of it in the morning, but I wasn't sure if it was that or leftovers from when DH and I had DTD the night before. It stopped later in the morning, so I figured it was nothing.

Well, it is back and more than yesterday. It is cloudy and looks just like very thick CM from my charting days- and that is why I am confused. Is it my MP or is it just CM??? I have not had any CM at all the entire pregnancy- totally dry, so that is why I am leaning toward MP. WDYT??

I know it doesn't mean that I am going to go into labor right away if it is my MP, but at 40 weeks 5 days I would like to hope it means it will be sooner than later.

TIA!

Hmm, usually it's like a great big sticky snotty booger. Sometimes with fibers in it, sometimes with pink or blood.

I would think what you're seeing is certainly hormone driven. Your hormones are probably shifting into a different pattern. (Hope that's labor for you!!!) But, I don't know that what you described would be considered a mucus plug. A lot of people never see a mucus plug & go into labor just fine.

For the record, if someone clicks on a thread with the title "Mucus Plug" we're pretty much expecting to see TMI. And, really... what the heck is TMI when you're 9 or 10 months pregnant!?!?

I don't know, but I lost some clear stuff last night that I'm pretty sure was MP--and I HAVE had lots of CM this pregnancy. This stuff was like jell-o-snot, if that helps. Thicker than EWCM. but still does that cheese-pizza-stringy thing.

I know, but I wanted to make sure just in case. And I agree with you- IMO, nothing is TMI at this point.

i think you can also lose a little at a time as well? I've been having extra jello type discharge the last couple days but nothing with blood or fibers. I know it can regenerate itself as well right? Still, at this point every little bit counts! It must mean it is doing something! Good luck mama!

If I recall from the TTC stage, If in between fingers, the man-stuff stretches but breaks whereas girl-stuff is more stretchy? (Correct me if I am wrong - is it the other way around?)

This sounds exactly like me other than the contractions!

I'm generally totally fine with TMI topics, but you all have ruined jello and pizza for me!

I was totally thinking the same thing!! I don't mind TMI threads, but do we have to compare discharge to food??!?!?

Man- Stuff..... whitish, breaks when stretched, will disolve in water

Mucous Plug.... looks like a yellowish (sometimes pink, red or brown) chunk of booger, like when you have a sinus infection...that sonsistency.

Regular 3rd trmester discharge... can be EWCM, clear, watery, or cloudy white and sticky. Most people notice an increase in the last few weeks.

so funny...I was just thinking the same thing, Spark. Isn't it all about different kinds of goo from here on in? Personally, I'm quite comfortable with my goo.

that's really helpful. should we add the partially dissolved epo gelcap?
