Does anyone have a comprehensive booklist? A list of books to be read to children.....fiction and non, poetry etc. Is there such a thing ? My son will be 6.

Also, take a look at what Sonlight recommends. I think they give good suggestions for the readers that my son uses.

You might also browse through my page on reading and language arts - there are a few links to some really nice websites where librarians and others list and/or review or suggest popular books for various ages. - Lillian

I just bought books that build character. It has a list of literature for kids. It's not all inclusive of course.

Fabulous book! I found it only after we'd read and loved many of the books it suggests. Stuffy sounding name, but very rich content that includes only good, time tested, literature but no books written only to present a message:

Thank you guys!

Books That Build Character (you are right, very stuffy name if I just saw it I would skip right over it I bet.....that'll teach me ) is at the library so I have it on hold. Th other list are also very helpful!!!!!!!! I never thought to look at Sonlight.
