Timing contractions.

I don't know, but I don't see the point here. I mean, I have had some pretty strong and promising - painful - contractions, and I try to time them, but then I forget and I'm not near the clock and then I just can't remember what the previous time was, and I get obsessed with trying to remember and ugh, it's so much work. I assume when I need to go to the hospital, I will KNOW. Right?

It just seems like it's so much work and it kind of stressed me out. Am I missing something? :

Well, if you're just sitting online, you could do this:

You will know... it'll be time when you are no longer able to smile or crack jokes between contractions. When it's downright serious

LOL, when I can no longer post updates online then I know it's serious.
My husband timed some during the beginning of my first birth, but we've never timed anything since.

I'm not a "clocky" type person. I don't wear a watch, and our alarm clock in the bedroom has been blinking 12:00 since thursday when we lost power. DH only set it so he could get up this morning for work.

The only reason i might consider it is because I know the hospital will ask when I come in how far apart they are etc.... Mind you if you wait long enough to go in they will obviously see it doesn't matter! (Ie baby crowning? LOL)

I'm an obsessive number person. Obsessive. I look at my watch hundreds of times a day, I have to sleep where I can see the clock, so that I can look at it all night long. That sort of thing.

And, with my first one, I knew it was "time" when I couldn't time contractions any more.

I'll time then on the way in then, which will give me something to do as I most likely swear my head off the whole 30 minutes drive to the hospital.

We timed last time but it didn't help because they were very short through the whole labor and misleading. We ended up going to the hospital when I started yakking. It was actually a pretty good decision point since I was in transition, although, in retrospect, not the best time to be riding in the car! :Puke (ok, I have been looking for a reason to use this guy!)
