Organic Crib Mattress

Thread Starter
I'm looking to get an organic crib mattress for my DS.

Some say innerspring is best, and others say that latex is best.

Which one do I get?

And also, there are so many companies out there. What are the recommended ones?

I'm looking to spend under $300, (unless the savvy baby is the most recommended at $350).

Thanks in advance for your advice,
Ana

We got the Pure Rest Organics innerspring, less than $300. We debated innerspring vs. latex as well, but then realized that, most likely, this mattress won't be used more than 8 years, probably less (if we have 2 kids, crib converts to toddler bed & then to double bed). So durability not as much of an issue. She just started sleeping on it last night.

We ended up getting most of our other crib bedding from EcoBaby Organics. The bumper is a bit too long for the crib, so we may return it.

www.anaturalhome.com is in the town next to me. They make an organic crib mattress for less than $300. They are handmade by the Amish using local (to us, anyway!) products like wool.

You need a dr prescription to get one (anywhere in the country) - and they can provide it for you.

I bought the crib mattress from www.anaturalhome.com earlier this year for DD (although she doesn't use it), and didn't need a doctor's prescription to buy it. The reason is, I believe, because wool is used as a natural fire retardant. You'd need a prescription to get a mattress that has no fire retardant whatsoever.
