tell me your hysteroscopy / uterine polyp stories

I had a saline sonohistogram today and my RE discovered that I have a uterine polyp near my cervix. He suggested that I may need a hysteroscopy to have it removed. It seemed like the decision to do it would be up to me...

please share your experiences with this type of thing, any advice and opinions are welcome! thanks in advance.

Biomama, I just responded to you on the IUI board about this but I wanted to add that I have no fert. coverage, zippo mundo, but they processed my polyp as an OB issue and that was pretty standard. More

During a laparoscopy, looking for endo, they discovered I had polyps and started removing them. Dr. was pretty sure she had them all but we did a saline ultrasound, very painful, to make sure. Sure enough there was a small bunch left so I had another D&C and had them removed. The D&C wasn't so bad but I did not do well with the laparoscopy.

I had a hysteroscopy/d&c October 2007 for a uterine polyp-everything went fine. Got pregnant in December 2007, but lost it -not due to anything with the d&c though. Trying now with injectables due to my age-42. Good luck!

thanks for sharing your stories, and good luck to all of you.

My RE, DH and I decided to try this cycle despite the polyp, by IUI. Then, if I'm not pg, I will have it removed next cycle, and then follow that by a mini-IVF cycle in September or October. I hope we don't need to go that far, but it's staring us in the face now.

for the hysteroscopy/ D&Cs, what was that procedure like? Did you get put under? What was the recovery like? Did you go home that day? What part of the cycle did you have it done?

Thanks again for the info, all.

They put me under with iv sedation. was totally out. It was done, woke up, even got pics of my uterus-how strange is that?
I don't remember exactly what day of my cycle it was performed; I know it wasn't the first week, must have been between cd 10-20.
I took just one day off work-had the procedure in the morning, rested in the afternoon, went to work the next day. Recovery for me wasn't bad at all.
