Cramping in latent and real labor

I'm wondering if anyone else has this and if they found anything to help.....

I am having lots of cramping way down low in the front of my belly. Before a CX starts, during it and lasting well afterward. It's hard to tell when a CX starts and ends b/c the cramping is there so much--and it hurts like heck and I haven't even really begun yet.

I had CX on and off last night (kind of like all week only they hurt alot more). A few for every 15 minutes, then nothing for an hour or more, then it repeats. But the most annoying thing is the cramping.

I remember it from my last (fifth) labor. The OB said it had something to do with a irritable uterus--from having alot of kids or being old, I can't remember. ; )

Anyway.....I plan on doing my mega dose of cal/mag once labor is well established--but I am no where near that yet.

I thought maybe a rice sock down there might help?

Anyone else have this? Is there anything that might help? I know some crampy type feelings are a normal part of CXs, but I didn't have THIS sensation with my first four kids and it has gotten way worse this time.

I have those cramps, but they aren't as bad as yours. Just mild and in the background, YKWIM?
