Who's doing hypnobabies?

I just bought my course today!:

I'm really excited and wondered if anyone else is doing the course for the first time or as a repeater. If so it might be neat to have a thread to ask each other questions and check in on how the process is going!

Anyone else up for it?

Ooo! Glad to see this thread. I am on bedrest and so can't attend Bradley or hypnobirthing classes. I was thinking Hypobabies would be a good home-study alternative. I spoke with a doula about it last night, and while she wouldn't recommend it for first time mamas, she thought it would be great in my situation. I'll be ordering it this week!

I just ordered a book because I thought that I would give it a try and I'd like to have the information to share with my students and families that I work with (I'm a doula and CBE). Also, one of the midwives at the practice I'm using does Hynobabies and since I'll have such a great resource, I'd love to get the most out of it!

I was thinking of ordering it too. After two very painful labors, the idea of one that is "mildly uncomfortable" sounds pretty good to me. I've done Bradley in the past, but the "feigning sleep" thing doesn't really work for me. Maybe Hypnobabies will work out better for me!

I'm planning on trying it. This will be my second birth, and I'd really like to avoid drugs this time. Plus, I know I'm a pretty good candidate for hypnosis. Never tried self-hypnosis, though.

According to the chart on the web site, if we're due in December we should start the course in September, right?

I am probably going to do Hypnobabies this time around. I already know one person who used it and it worked for her, but I am waiting on another friend to have her baby in August to ask her experience with it.

I was just going to start this thread, too!

We've been listening to some Hypnobirthing that a friend gave to us, but I hate the imagery. We actually are ordering Hypnobabies today.

Ooo! Me! ME! DH and I will be ordering Hypnobabies when I hit 20 weeks and start at around 25 weeks doing the course. I'm so excited. I'm thinking about taking the Hypnobirthing course just to meet other parent's who are going with my midwife, but I'm not sure completely yet.

I did lots of research on it and also since there are so many mothers here on MDC who have done it and really had good experiences, I figured it would be a good thing to try for my first baby and possibly all the others if it goes well.

I'm doing it. I had it my last pregnancy but never got passed the first CD. I would listen to it at bedtime and it would put me to sleep. I would wake up after it went off. Her voice is so soothing and relaxing.

I think I'm going to try it this time around! I'm just too cheap to buy it yet. LOL

I'm going to do Hypnobabies, too. I got their eliminate nausea CD at about 8 weeks and it's really helped a lot. I will probably buy the course around 24 weeks or so (I'm at 18 wks now).

I will do hypnobithing again as that is what I have always used and it works fabulously. I have had 3 pain free labors/births and it is awesome. I can't sing enough praises.:

I bought 2 CDs with my last pregnancy because I couldn't afford the course and just hoped they'd help in some way, but mostly they just made me want to fall asleep too!

That is awesome! Let us know if you have any particular tips you can recommend!

I wanted to do the class but it's 400 dollars and a good 50 miles away from us so it would add up to big bucks, so I ordered the at home course instead. I'm gonna start a little earlier. I'm 19 weeks or so now and I'll probably start around 21 weeks since I have a lot going on from now until Dec, it will give me more practice time!

Also doing Hypnobabies

HI everyone-

I'm also doing Hypnobabies. I did a LOT of research and decided (that for me, anyway) Hypnobabies was by far the best choice. The Hypnobirthing program did not offer nearly as many tools and explanations as the Hypnobabies program.

I am doing the home study coure, and started around 13 weeks. You can wait until MUCH later, but I wanted to get a head start. I am really stretching out the lessons, though---doing one lesson over 3 weeks instead of over 1 week.

I have met 3 other women who used Hypnobabies and they all had a good experience with it. One of the women had to have a C-section, but for completely unrelated reasons--swelling cervix. So--I'm really excited about it and look forward to hearing everyone else's experiences.

NOTE-----concerning 'couldn't do it b/c you were falling asleep'----you will learn later on in Hypnobabies that falling asleep is FINE! Your subconcious will accept all the suggestions whether you are awake or not. However, since you want to KNOW what you are 'hearing', it's a good idea to listen to all the CDs all the way through the 1st time you use them. For example---fast forward through all the relaxation exercises, and just listen to the script and lesson on the CD. By skipping the relaxation/entering hypnosis section at the beginning, it's no problem to stay awake. Just don't do it right before bed the very first time you listen to it.

Me too. I'm probably going to have to buy used... does anyone happen to know if there is any compelling difference between editions? (I googled around to see about how much paypal I'd have to come up with to get a used set, but didn't think about this issue til I saw at least 2 different ones. Confused now. )

Is there some reason no one wants to say how much it was? Where did you get the home study course?
