Your bills.

For those who don't mind posting their numbers here, could you help me out by telling me how much you pay for the bills I'm going to list? I know that different areas are different and some things are subjective (such as rent would be lower on a smaller house), but I'm just curious as to what others are paying for these things. Feel free to give me any other details if you want that might make the bills amount seem more or less reasonable; such as the size of your house, how many people are on your insurance, what kind of water you use, the car you have, etc etc.

Rent
Health Insurance
Car Insurance
Electricity
Cable
Cellphone
Water

Thanks!!

Question for you all...
In our spreadsheet doc that has bills in it, my husband has:
Cobra 515
Golden Rule 147

Golden rule is our son's health insurance, and Cobra (Blue Cross & Blue Shield) is the insurance on him and I that he got after he lost his last job. Looking at all the numbers here I'm assuming that he has the total as something more than "per month". At those prices, any idea if that is "per month" or how often of an interval that looks like it would be?

Generally COBRA insurance is WAY high I would bet that is per month.

Mortgage: $720/month
Health Insurance: $1/month for all of us, $600 deductible
Car Insurance: $553 for Nissan, Dodge and Mercedes/ 6 months
Electricity: $70 budget plan/month - we have gas heat and supplement with wood
Cable: $65/month
Cellphone: $85 for 3 lines/ unlimited rollover minutes
Water: $45/month general use only... we don't water anything outside

My mother lives with us, so we have 3 adults and a 6 year old. Our house is a 1939 English stone farmhouse. The main living area is 1200 sq. ft. We have a finished basement that has a family room... 300 sq. ft. My mother's addition is another 600 sq. ft. that is heated solely with baseboard heat. Cable is satellite 120 channel package. Our cars are pretty new, so even though we own them outright we still have full coverage on them. Health insurance is through dh's work - he's a tenured university professor. HTH!

Rent - we have a 2000 mortgage. a 1 BR apartment is about 800 for a decent one, 1000 for 2 br. this is in a city.
Health Insurance we pay about 3000/yr for the family but my company pays most of it. It would be about 1000/month if we were not subsidized by my co.
Car Insurance 300/mo for 2 cars
Electricity about 75/month
Cable I wish we don't have cable
Cellphone 40/month but that is our share of a family plan shared with my whole fam.
Water about 30 bucks /mo unless we are watering the yard a ton.

Ugh, that's what I was afraid to hear . The thing is that with his new job it's a 10/99 job so they don't have insurance so we have to get private insurance. Any idea of something that is affordable, yet has good coverage? We are using that for now only because it gave us extension of the benefits he had from work which included prenatal - which I needed since I was already pregnant and most companies won't let you switch mid-pregnancy or it's considered "an existing condition" and they won't cover it

Just so I'm not looking at everyone else's numbers and not adding my own, I'm going to add mine too so everyone knows what I'm "comparing" to.

Rent - 1200
Cobra - 515
Golden Rule - 147
Car Insurance - 117
Electricity - 154
Cable - 49
Cellphone - 108
Water - 110

Rent is on a three story (including the basement) house with 3BR/2BA. It's only a couple of minutes drive (literally, like 2 minutes) from a main city, we have a fenced in yard (not sure of the size either). And also includes a one car garage and an outside building we can (but don't currently) use for storage.

Car insurance is on one car with one person covered. Hubby had to have an SUV for his job, so it's on a Honda Pilot.

Cellphone is the bill for two people, through Verizon.
And water is local water instead of having to be brought in from surrounding areas.

The water and electricity were high for the particular month he has the amounts saved for as it was our first month here and includes all kinds of other fees that we normally wouldn't be having to pay.

Rent: $975 (3 bedrooms, 1 bath)
Health Insurance: $200
Car Insurance: $83 (2 cars, 2 drivers)
Electricity: Electricity and natural gas together run $150-$175 month
Cable: Internet, phone (metered service, no long distance) and TV in one bill $125 (ouch)
Cellphone: $25 (DH work pays for his so we just pay the add-on charge for mine)
Water: $50 but expecting this to be a little more this summer with my garden

We also pay $45 mo. for life insurance (I have high risk family issues and a 30 year term policy so that's the majority of it) and we have a car payment.
