Sologig and Guru: Any Luck Finding Jobs?

I've been a "free" member of sologig and Guru for several months now. I've replied to several postings, but I've had no luck. Is it worth it to pay the extra money to upgrade?

Anyone have luck at the free membership level?

I was recently listening to a podcast (Freelanceswitch Radio) and they were discussing getting jobs from websites. The general conclusion was that if you are in the market to be a "serious/full time" freelancer that online jobs were not/will not be a main resource. Online jobs were a "filler" when people had time to surf the net and apply when regular business was slow.

I have not had any personal experience with either.
