Spinners: up for a fiber swap? *OFFICIAL swap link in first post!**

I've been playing around with a bunch of my fiber these past couple days so I got to thinking about doing a swap (that and the Tour De Fleece has me drooling!).

Anyone up for it? We could bang out the details later on but for now let's just gage interest.

I'm in.

Swaps link!

No one? Le sigh.

It would depend on the details.... I don't have much money right now, and very little fleece on hand to trade.

Me.
Don't we need to bump this over to the TP, though? It could be worth posting to the craft swap thread as well (I hear a rumour that Salvia has goats )

Yeah it should go in Swaps but I figured we should post here first to see if there was any interest. I never thought about the craft swap thread! You wanna do it?

As for details I figured they'd be somewhat similar to the magic ball of yarn ones. That can be worked out later though once we get more people.

I would LOVE to join! I have tons of fiber
post #7 of 26
Even though I hardly have gotten into spinning I am a collector Sounds like me and laceweight yarn too... I just keep buying it! I'd definately be in, I already have a fiber in mind thats from a local person (I'd have to drive 3 hours to get it, but thats about as "local" as I can get LOL) So you can probably count me in too. And I think it would be fine if we did it as a smaller group too. I hate to take away from MDC but if you did really want something bigger it could be run via rav too.

I was thinking smaller might be better this first go round. Not too many of us on here if IIRC that are spinners.

So now we have 5 (counting me). What should we set the cap at?
At least 6?

6 would be a good start.

So should we close this thread and start hammering out details or should we keep this open til a certain date?
If you decide to do more than 6, I'm a spinner, and I'd love to join in. I've been combing a lot of fiber lately by hand, but if people are interested in dyed fibers as well I do have some acid dyes on the way and I plan to start "playing" when they get here.

I haven't closed it yet. Should we try for 10 people?
Well, depends on what we're planning, doesn't it? If we're talking "make a magic ball of roving and send it to a pardner" then we can have any number, but if it's a spinalong swap, then we don't have that flexibility.
I'm up for either, just so's you know.

Hmmmm I was thinking magic ball of roving type swap. I hadn't even though about spinning it. That would be way fun too! Should we take a vote?
Sorry, by spinalong I meant where everyone sends a bunch of their fibre to the organiser, then you send a fraction of the whole out again.
I say Magic Ball. And I want a partner who likes pink, because I have too much pink in my spinning stash

I'm partial to pink.

Ok so I think I'll leave this up until Friday to see if we can't get more interested. Then Saturday I can work out the details, Sunday match people up, and then Monday we will all be ready to go. Sound good?

so as not to drop off the page.

I think I may be in too! I have a ton of fibers stored all around the house (so Dh doesn't notice how much there really is), and I don't have enough time to get to it all.

Almost all of what I have are natural colours (cream white, light browns, some greys) because I dye them after I spin them up. All of it is either wool or alpaca/wool blend. Would that do?

Would this be a swap of handspun yarn or roving/top?

Ok I totally spaced since I had a wedding on Saturday. I'll officially close this as of 9 pm MST tonight (I say MST because that's my time zone. ). Sound good?

ellp roving/top so that our partners can turn around and spin it up.

So as of right now I have the count to be 9. That look right? If we can't get another person to even it out someone can have 2 to do! If that's ok with them.
