Want to sell homemade carriers - how do I start?

It turns out I really love making homemade baby carriers and I'm actually quite good at it. I haven't a clue how to go about selling them, though. We're in a rural, mainstream area, so I need a more global audience in order to succeed. I consider myself computer literate, but I haven't a clue how to begin selling my products.

Anyone else start a business selling homemade carriers and how do I begin?

First: I don't have a business sewing carriers, but I do have a business, and I keep an eye on the carrier market

There are a few different routes you can go, depending on how much sewing you want to do, whether you've developed a unique "brandable" carrier, whether you're looking to grow to the point where you hire people to sew, or just keep it a hobby that pays for itself.

You can start selling a few on trading posts and eBay, then maybe make your own website. You can have a regular stock, or take custom orders.

again, I'm not talking from personal experience, just what I've observed while searching the web for carrier-makers. I don't think you even need to be a business, per se, to get a toe wet, just make a few and sell them on eBay and message boards with the very clear disclaimer that they're home made, though liability is something you'll really want to look into.

Thank you for your response. I was kind of thinking about the E-bay/online trading post route, too. I just keep thinking, what makes me different from any other carrier maker? I love making wraps and mei teis, but I want to find a way to embrace different carriers, blend them into one convenient carrier, and market it.

We shall see where my endeavors take me...
