I am so, so sorry. Your story just breaks my heart. People wonder why I am so suspicious of hospitals.....

I called the procurator today. I explained the whole situation today and I swear I could hear her shaking her head over the phone. She was totally appalled. She told me to go to the medical director, and to get some answers from him. So I went to talk to him, and asked when my daughter would be released. He called the ped in. I had seen the ped around, but I didn't know he was a ped, much less the ped in charge of my baby. Today was the first time he presented himself to me. So he tells me that the baby isn't ok because she has pustulosis (pic), possibly caused by staphylococcus, on her rear end, and that she developed this on Tuesday. Which is interesting, because I changed her diaper yesterday, and didn't see anything unusual. The nurses also have changed her in front of me, and I didn't see anything then either, nor did they point it out to me. I mean, this is something I would have noticed right away, right?
So I ask him if this could have been treated outside by a ped. He said no, not in newborns, they had to be hospitalized. He said they had done cultures, and if they arrived negative tomorrow, then they would release her at 3pm. I told the procurator and she's pretty positive they will release her tomorrow, since I was able to get a definite straight answer out of them. She said after I got my daughter back, if I still wanted to file a complaint, to go ahead, because she strongly believes that I was wronged. You're damn right I'm gonna file a complaint!
So as an aside, I ask the ped why in other countries that do homebirths (Europe, England etc), they don't have that problem of "unsterile births". He says it's because they have midwives trained to make the birth process "sterile". If someone understand how that works, please let me know.
feminine_earth: homebirth is totally legal, however, we can't be taking money out of the hospital's coffers now can we? How else will the president go to his vacation in Tahiti this year?
Boy do I have a lot of documenting to do
She said that the release papers were already done and I could pick her up after 11am. Interesting. I asked if the cultures had come back, and she said, I guess so, because her release papers are in her record ready to go.
