Please tell me it gets better

My ds had raging GER, so I haven't experience a "normal" newborn firsthand. DD is now 2 weeks and all I do all day long is nurse or hold her. I'm all for attachment parenting -- we co-sleep and my dh & I wear her as much as possible, but I can't even put her down for a few minutes or she'll wake up and cry. She only sleeps if she's being held or laying next to me in bed at night.

DS was the same, but I always figured it was his reflux since he wanted to be held upright all the time -- I even slept sitting upright with him until we got the right meds figured out.

I don't think she has GER. I know she's still transitioning to life outside the womb, but she'll outgrow this, right?!? When can I expect to be able to take a shower, or even go to the bathroom without holding her?

s mama. It does get better. DD was like that too, and in the last few days she has allowed me to put her down some.

This totally describes my LO. The only difference is that *I* have to be the one holding her. No one else. My mom and dh both say, at least she's comforted by me. She's really not a difficult baby, I mean she's not screaming all day. She's relatively content, so long as I hold and nurse her all day long. Like your LO, she'll sleep next to me at night, but during the day needs to be held.

I wear her for my showers.

I wear her when going to the bathroom.

If I don't, she'll just cry and that's not worth the stress and anxiety.

Knock on wood, but she seems to be getting a tiny bit better the last couple of days. I actually sat her (swaddled) in her carseat today and she fell asleep!! I was shocked! I actually got to eat lunch with two hands!

But, here I am at 2am with an awake baby. She's been awake/grumpy since 11:30pm. She's never done this before.

ds1 was exactly like Tanya's little one. No one but me would do until about 6 weeks. During that time it was tough and we coslept and I had quick showers. It does get better.

hugs to you momma ....

My boys are the same way ...
They've just now gotten to where they will lie on the floor and 'play', or sit in the bouncy seat. I seriously don't think they like me to wear them, but they will let DH.

Off to bed now, since they are sleeping!!
