tell me abt dr bronner's castille soap!

I've seen dr bronners mentioned in so many contexts here. it seems there are so many uses and it is pretty cheap for a natural product. can someone fill me in on what it can be used for and how (mixing with H2O etc...)?

Thanks!

I'd like to know too! I've heard of mixing part Dr. B's soap and baking soda on a scrubby brush for a good shower cleanser, but I'd like to know a lot more too. Also, is their SAL Suds good to use for heavier stuff?

I use it in my bath water to smell yummy.

I add a good squirt to water in the mop bucket to clean my floors.

Whenever I do spring cleaning, I use Dr. B's diluted in water to wipe down my cabinets, baseboards, frig, etc.

I've seen posts where others use it as hand soap and in laundry detergent.

I have some and I like it okay. I use a few long squirts in a spray bottle with water to clean the counters, or squirt some on the floor and mop with hot water. It does well when things are already pretty clean, but not the hard-core stuff.

The thing I don't like about it is that it's a bit oily. I used it for dishes and they all came out greasy. Sometimes when I use it in the shower it makes my skin a little greasy, too.

Also, it wasn't that great of a hand soap. Full strength was too expensive, but diluting it made it too thin and it would shoot out of the pump and onto my clothes or face. Maybe the bars would be a better alternative.

The Sal Suds have SLS in them. Their website says: "Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS): This surfactant cuts grease and dirt, generates copious suds, and biodegrades quickly and completely. SLS is made by combining a sulfate group with lauryl alcohol from coconut oil, then attaching sodium. If improperly formulated, SLS can irritate skin, but our superb formula uses coco-betaine and lauryl glucoside to counter this."

I haven't bought Sal Suds because of the SLS; I am still undecided about whether I am okay with that or not.

I love this as hand soap! I had the same problem as PP in a reg, dispenser; until I switched it to a foaming dispenser. Works awesome!
Mostly water; then about 1-2 Tbsp of Dr. B's.
I also use it as part of my diaper wipe solution; for floors and general clean up. I just dilute some in a bowl full of hot water and use a rag for cleaning. The lavender scent is great for facials or headache/ sinus pain. (Warm washcloth w/ a little Dr.B's).

Good idea about the foaming dispenser. I'll have to try that. (Is it possible to find a foaming dispenser that doesn't have another kind of soap in it already?)

Also I forgot, I do use it in my wipe solution when I'm not too lazy to use disposable wipes.

Okay, I am on it for hand soap. I can get so into that!

FOr floors and general cleanup, i usually use vinegar and EO. Have to see abt a difference.

I'd love to hear from someone for whom it has worked as a dish cleaner. I saw a blog poster who used it for that. She has it in a squirt bottle.

Almond is the only scent I care for, we got a good eBay deal on a gallon and it lasts a looongnnnngg time. My DH uses it for handwashing dishes, they don't seem oily to me. One thing that's awesome, the sponge never gets that AWFUL smell. I use it for DS's Playtex nipples, it works great. I don't care for using it as a shampoo, but DH will use it (shorter hair.)

I LOVE the peppermint Dr. B's!! We have it in the foaming dispenser. I bought three containers of another brand when they were on clearance for a dollar. (I gave up trying to find a place that sold them empty!) And when those were finally emptied, I refilled with the good stuff. A $10 bottle lasts a really long time. (A little soap in the bottle, and a LOT of water works great)

I use Dr. Bronners to wash my face (it only takes a few drops) and then I follow with Kiss My Face peaches and cream face lotion. Now I have clear skin!

I also use Dr Bronners for anything I wash with a bucket of water and a cleaning rag...bathroom/kitchen floors, walls, cupboards, our patio, etc.
