Very stressful experience- really need advice regarding induction - Page 2

Oh, you girls. I really feel for you. Both of you, Jenna and Amy. I just think that you both are so intelligent and responsible, and I just really want to encourage you to trust yourselves and advocate for yourselves. I really hope things turn out the way you both want them. For all of us...me too!

Jenna, HUGE hugs

Since I haven't been there I'm not going to give advice, just send love your way, and "baby, time to come out" vibes.

Hoping you labor soon, on your own, peacefully.

Aw hon! hugs to you! You are being so brave right now. This is a tough decision. I've had friends and clients go through it and it's never easy. I, myself, am afraid that I will have to go through this for many reasons. What I can tell you from what I've seen in the births I've attended is that induction can be scary but I've seen women do it succesfully especially when they have a good support system around them. It's difficult but the aftermath of C-sections are even worse. Consider the short-term and long-term benefits. Go ahead and try the natural methods of inducing. Also walk, walk walk! Go up and down stairs sideways with your partner on the downhill, stretch and open up that pelvis, walk the curb, try sex, nipple stimulation and castor oil! Most importantly, try not to stress too much. That fear and stress can really do a number on your body and your uterus. I know it's tough but try everything you can to get the labor going naturally. If it doesn't happen, know that you are making good choices regarding your baby's health and you are in the hands of capable and caring midwives.

Jenna, I am so sorry that CNM did that. That wasn't cool at all. I will never understand how someone can feel ok in their profession in taking away a woman's confidence in her body and her instincts. Grrr....

Peaceful vibes to you, I know you took the CO. I hope things get started for you as they are supposed to if she's ready to get here.

This is what I hate most about the medical profession. In the beginning they "seem" good to go with many things, but as the end nears, they begin to think about themselves and their liabilities, procedures, and the way they like things to go.

So you go suddenly from "natural, have it your way" to "Uh oh! Something COULD be wrong and we better do this".

A friend of our just had this exact thing happen. Since the beginning of her pgcy, her doc told her that she is encouraged to VBAC and he would NOT (emphatically stated, BTW) induce unless he had no choice. However, I told DH four months ago to watch and see, things would change and he would push an induction and eventually a repeat c/s.

And what do you think happened at her 32 wk appt? Suddenly there is a "concern" and an induction has been scheduled, with a high probability of c/s being tossed around (oh, and perhaps we should just skip the induction and go straight for the c/s).

It is sad when you can almost predict, word for word, what they will say.
