Protein in urine...

So at my midwive's appt today (39w3d), I tested my own urine like I do every time and couldn't believe that the stick turned turquoise. I told her I thought I did it wrong and drank some water and redid it and it was the same. +30.

My BP has been steady - on the low side, today was 100/68. My glucose test was really low too, 50. I did have high BP with my son and ALOT of swelling but ironically I never had protein in the urine.

Anyone have any experience with this? Could it possibly by a UTI? They kind of didn't do anything about it, but I have been having kind of sharp bladder cramping and have been blaming the baby. I'm not sure if the 2 are related... I don't go back for another week.

Do you know how concentrated your urine was? I've spilled protein into my urine a few times (the line right over trace, .03), but we figured out that it was only when my urine was REALLY concentrated, so that could be a reason. Also, did you do a "clean catch"? It's where you pee a little, stop midstream, then catch the rest. My mw also said that hairs, or even vaginal discharge can get into the sample and make a little protein show up. I think I also read that UTI's can cause protein to show up. HTH.

It was a clean catch, only because I managed to pee all over my arm before I filled the cup. LOL. I did it twice, once at the beginning of the appt and once at the end. I don't think it was super concentrated. I'm wondering about the UTI though, only because I have been cramping ALOT very low and I am starting to think it's my bladder cramping....I do not have any pain though when I pee, which I have had in the past with them (I'm not prone to them, haven't had one in probably 10 years).
