Whole Foods "natural" products

Thread Starter
I am in the process of trying to convert all our usage to the most natural / fewest harmful chemicals. I've been using the cosmetic database as a guide and have been alarmed at the chemicals in a lot of products that brand themselves as natural. The problem I run into is balancing the best products with those I can buy locally. I prefer not to order online because of the gas usage, boxing, etc.

So, that leaves Whole Foods where we already shop. Which products (shampoos, toothpaste, soap, etc.) do they sell that rank as lowest toxic chemicals?

Dr. Bronners for body soap
California Baby for baby things - lotions, shampoos, conditioners, etc.
Aubrey's Organics for adult shampoo and conditioner, skin care (I love it)
Dr. Hauschka (though it is really pricey)
Ecodent for toothpaste (powder, actually)

I'd throw in Dr. B's baby mild soap in the baby things category too.

DH, DD and I all use California Baby :-)

Aubrey and Dr. Bronners, definitely. California Baby suncare. Spectrum coconut oil could cover a variety of things...leave in conditioner, moisturizer, personal lubricant.

You can use Bronners from head to toe for the whole family, no need for 'poo! Plus use it to wash your hands in a pump...it's wonderful stuff!

We love the soaps from Sappo Hill. They're vegan, cruelty free, all-natural, and about $1.50 a bar. Also, they're sold with very little packaging (just an open box on the shelf holding a dozen or so soaps, each with a barcode sticker).

And they smell sooo yummy! :

For just about everything else, though, we use baking soda and vinegar. But I love a nummy-smelling soap in the shower!

ETA: The website didn't list Whole Foods for me when I put my info into "List of Retailers," but that's where I buy it, so....

I used to use these in Oregon/WA...they are sold all over b/c they are made in Oregon. I am on the east coast now and can't find it...we are forced to shop at Whole Foods for lack of any other natty food store options and they don't sell them at ours..or in this entire state! why?!

anyhow..I love that they had no packaging on the actual soap too...just that wee little bar code

Weird! I wonder if it's in ours just because we're in Austin? That's where Whole Foods is based, and the central Austin store is just massive - like no other W.F. I've ever seen! If I could live anywhere, I think it would be inside that Whole Foods! I mean, assuming I didn't have to pay for any of it.

I also like the 365 brand for shampoo and conditioner. Very cheap! They also have body wash and moisturizer.
