Post-partum Iron Levels--how fast do they go back up?

Before the LO came, I was struggling with my iron levels. The week before she was born, my hemoglobin was at 10.9 I lost a lot of blood at the birth (MW had to give me a shot of pit to stop it) and two days PP, my hemoglobin was down to 8.9.

Now that I don't have a fetus stealing my iron supply away from me, it should go up faster than it did during pregnancy, right? (in 6 weeks, my iron only went from 7.9 to 10.9)

What's your experience with how fast it tends to go up after the birth? I'm trying to take chlorophyll and iron pills every day ( the only thing that worked to help raise the level during pregnancy), but with taking care of the LO and all, I forget some days.

Maybe some beet juice will help it come up faster.
