I want to knit, help?

I am a long-time crochet gal...but for some projects, I'd rather have a knitted result. I've tried a couple of times to learn, and given that i've crocheted so long, it's hard to maneuver, yk?

What would be a good book to help me through another try at this? I want to learn this really bad....maybe make a scarf in the round?

Also, what type of needles for a scarf like that? Would the ones that are connected be best?

great place for help is watching the videos at http://www.KnittingHelp.com

I second that. I've taught myself to knit almost exclusively from knittinghelp.com. The videos are great.

Another plug for knittinghelp.com. That's where I learned to knit too.

From a 30 year crocheter who learned to knit less then 4 years ago: Go with continental style knitting. You hold the yarn the same way as for crocheting. The transition will be so much smoother.

And more advice: If you want to do something in the round, you will want the circular needles. The ones connected together. Get one that is a bit smaller then the circumference you want to make.

Just did a quick run-through of that site, and it looks really awesome!! I'm tired as all get out after a long day today, but now am itching to get some yarn in my hands to try this out...maybe tomorrow...

Angi, thanks for the advice on the Continental, I remember that I wasn't sure which to choose last time I tried this, so having that heads up really helps.

Just can't wait to get started!
