I have a dr's appt in 45 minutes for what I suspect to be another STAPH infection :. This will be my third since April and its the MRSA. I can't seem to get rid of it completely--actually dp and I are passing it back and forth I think--he had it first. I am hoping that she can just lance and drain the boil and I won't need atbx--we'll see. Hope everyone else is healthy...

Yep, we should have a chicken pox party. I'd like my children to get that out of the way too!

Sorry about the timing, though. It's tough with the first trimester!

Man my sisters boyfriend has a shingle (YES JUST ONE SPOT), I have heard you can get CP from that, at least that is what the dr. told my sisters bf about my sister.

My friend was shocked when i told her I had RRL tea. She said in germany pregnant women were not allowed to have it at all. Or something.

Thanks for the info on how to make it. I like the idea of making a big batch at a time, especially with how lazy I have been lately.

I know it's summer and all, but why am I craving ice chips? All I want to do is chew on ice all.the.time.
I think they might say somethign about that in some baby book, that or it might be some reference from a movie. something about sexual frustration. Or both. who knows, sometimes my mind doesn't make the proper connections.

Isn't craving ice supposed to be the same as craving sand??

All my levels are normal, so maybe it's just a nausea related thing?

Hi everyone, I've been gone for a while, but it's good to be back. I've just been throwing up and feeling nauseas all the time and ligament pains as well, man this pregnancy is kicking my butt. People have been telling me that it goes away after your first trimester (usually). Well I hope so. Tomorrow I have my first prenatal and I'm so excited. Oh and I absolutely looove ice chips. That and basically every food that's cold and not hot. I know it's crazy. Anyway hope everyone is doing good

To everyone else, I hope you're feeling better today and taking it easy. I hope its a stressfree day, or as stressfree as possible.

Thank you to all of you who replied about the Floradix and taking iron seperate from calcium (something I usually do, but the reminder helped!). I found the floradix on amazon, which do you prefer, liquid or capsule?
Well the liquid tasted good to me, so I'd say it, except it's expensive and if you don't like the taste....

But I don't know how big the capsules are. I'd go with liquid personally. You can always chase it with OJ.

Keep in mind that Floradix tends to work great or not at all for lots of mamas. So if you're taking it because your levels are low, be sure to keep an eye on them and if you don't start seeing improvement you might need to change the dosage or switch to a different supplement. Hopefully you'll be one of the many mamas for whom it's worked great, though.

tak, craving ice has been associated with iron deficiency. If it's not that it might be another mineral/vitamin. Have you had your hemoglobin checked lately?

Liquid prenatals sound heavenly. I'm really struggling with the 6 a day rainbow light routine. I wish I had read the label more carefully -- I never would have voluntarily submitted to 6 horse pills a day. But I have to say, I feel pretty great... glad to hear from you mamas that many had waning symptoms after wk 8. I'm at 9ish and feeling much less ms and also less fatigue. My last pg was almost entirely symptom free so I'm hoping all bodes well this time around, too. Really looking forward to seeing the mw at the birth center next week to hear little heart pounding away. The posted tales of u/s and dopplers -- not to mention the fantastic belly pic thread -- have made me desperate for signs of life in there. oh. ok. I have to pee again. baby must be listening...

on the book note: I heartily back the recommendation of _the natural pregnancy book_. It's a great feminist resource for learning how to trust your body and boost its innate fabulous womanly abilities with herbs and teas and whatnot. I re-read its opening sections whenever I get panicky about mc. How can you not love a book that argues for calling it your yoni!?

Hi all. I just returned from a trip to one of the villages here where I was putting on a camp for the kids there. Our housing fell through so I had to sleep on the hard floor in the bingo hall! OMG, it was horrible. No pregnant woman should ever have to do that. I kept moving around trying to get comfortable which never happened. I'm headed to bed now in my own bed...bliss!

Lol...I slept on my livingroom floor last night. I'm sure it wasn't as hard as a bingo hall floor, but it wasn't comfy. DH wasn't sleeping well, so I gave him the whole bed...

Eliza! You deserve much better than the situations you are currently tolerating. You deserve better, and your kids deserve a mom who is better rested and better able to nurture them. You are very much worth it.

I just don't understand this kind of treatment of pregnant women.

I'll shut up now. But please think about what I said. Okay, I'm done.

I had this with my last pregnancy and I had a calcium/magnesium deficiency. I ended up taking a cal/mag supplement for a lot of my pregnancy but had a hard time keeping those levels up. It also lead to me having a terrible case of restless legs syndrome during that pregnancy as well. That was awful!!! After she was born, my levels were very good so she was just sucking the minerals out of me for some reason.

And RLS has been linked to iron deficiency. If someone's craving ice and has totally healthy levels for nutrients, then it might just be a sensory thing -- I like frozen fruit when I'm pregnant, because eating cold things helps with the nausea. Plus it is very hot out (at least where I live).

But if RLS (which is miserable!) isn't from an iron issue, you can try some homeopathic remedies, if you're open to them. I've had some success with some for it.

Last time I was pregnant I had a very young, very clueless man tell me there was no such thing as RLS. I explained in no uncertain terms that he needed to think twice before telling a pregnant woman her physical symptoms were "all in her head." He apologized profusely and I hope will think twice before being a big ol' jackass to another pregnant mama.

Interesting nighten. Her pregnancy was the only one I didn't have an iron problem with so after lots of tests the calcium/magnesium and a little potassium deficiency was showing up big time. The problem with trying to up those nutrients is that they are very hard to increases levels in your body (unlike iron which your body wants to absorb for the most part). Which homeopathics did you use? I am already taking a cal/mag this time so that I can keep my mineral levels up throughout but just in case I want to know what worked. I also started taking floradix right off the bat with my last and I am doing that this time as well. I never had any luck besides baths and salt rubs.

Okay, I woke up with the nastiest migraine I've had in a long while. I chugged a cup of coffee and took some Tylenol and am feeling a little better but man, that hurt. Ugh.

I am enjoying my new health insurance. DH and I went to see the eye doctor for the first time in a million years and we both get new glasses. I apparently need glasses for driving and watching tv and if it feels better to me, while I'm on the computer as well. My eye doctor was soooo nice and really thorough and explained everything before he did it. He was awesome. It's nice to be treated well despite having state insurance and being broke.

I think I felt a little bump from my baby this morning. Maybe.

I've been away for a while, so how about I be the one to change the subject?
How's everyone belly bulge?
Anyone showing?
I'm not showing enough to be pregnant, but plump enough to feel fat and not fit into my clothes.
I'm at a writer's festival right now as an author, and I feel like every time I'm on stage, the audience is thinking, "Wow, she sure got hefty."
And I was so excited to come here, because there's a mineral water spa, but then I read the info and it's a no no for pregger ladies. So, no mineral hotspring for me. I knew better, but conveniently forgot until I got here. We go to hotsprings all the time at home, and I haven't gone in since we got pregnant.

Oh, and we had our first midwife appointment the other day, where she reassured me about my easing symptoms and let me take out a bunch of fabulous books from their library. I like her!

As for everyone else, hope all is well with you and yours!

I'm just still floating today, because that scary blood clot (SCH) is gone! I'm so happy I can't stand it. It's like I can finally start enjoying this pregnancy and feeling like it's real.

I go back in two weeks for the nuchal fold test and after that hopefully we're done with u/s for a good while.

It was a Boiron remedy and something else, which I don't remember, but I got it at my local HFS. I can look next time I'm there. I should probably pick some up just to have on hand in case.

I am taking a really good cal/mag/phos/potas combo at night with plenty of water to try to be proactive this time. Hopefully it will help.

Awesome! Thanks nighten! I tried the Hylands but it didn't help at all so I would love to know what you used and worked! I so don't want those stupid legs again...I would rather be pregnant for two years than have it again...
