I flipping hate Daria.
She's emblematic of a whole "geek culture" thing that isn't very autie/aspie friendly at all, but rather represents the co-opting of nerdy uncoolness as a way of being non-conformist and "interesting."
Daria's social, she's witty, she's savvy, she has friends, and as soon as she moves out of the house to Brooklyn or Seattle she'll be fine--she's just chosen a different "style" than the kids she goes to school with, largely as a form of self-expression and rebellion.
Kids on the spectrum, 90% of the time, are not constructing an identity to show how nonconformist they are or to make a point. Daria's a social little NT chick who's upping the coolness stakes by being "different." Feh.
ETA: Oh. And I put my vote in for Jane Eyre.
