Lol, I've wondered about Rachael Ray, as well...it's crossed my mind in Whoopi Goldberg and Jim Carey as well as the quiet actor guy from Australia, I can't remember his name now.

Maybe Robin Williams. I don't know why, but it just seems like it to me sometimes.

Robin Williams is *just* like my 4 year old ASD kiddo... My son has this awesome sense of humor, and really, sometimes it's just completely odd and off-color but he knows how to make people laugh. And he's just loud and completely out of control when he's being his funniest. :

My husband has speculated that John Goodman seems like he is spectrum.

Mitch Hedberg One of the funniest comics ever, he performed with sunglasses on, because he couldn't stand to keep his eyes open during a show because trying to see people's reactions was really hard for him.

Steve Wozniak (Steve Jobs' original Apple partner, if you see Woz, you will no longer think that Steve Jobs is Autistic.)

I wonder/speculate about Kurt Vonnegut... Almost every character in every book he ever wrote was pretty autistic.

Andy Kaufman

Tom Cruise

Crispin Glover

Roman Polanski

John Tesh

Don't forget Andy Warhol.
Daria (remember her? She's a cartoon)

Whoever said Max from Max & Ruby, you made my day. I've always thought so too.

lol. he's dating and or friends and or engaged in a hilarious publiscity stunt with kathy griffin right now. saw him on her show and he's adorable. even nice to her mom when she insisted he stop developing computers because technology is frightaning to old ladies. she tells jokes about how odd is for a bajillionaire. apparently his favorite thing to eat is still carl's jr and he hates tuxes so much that he never bothered to buy one so when he was her date to the emmeys he called her up all excited at his discovery of the men's warehouse. he seems like a nice guy.

awww... just googled. apparently they split.

Dan Ackroyd said in an interview once that he had AS. No one knows if he was joking or no, but I would bet not. My ds talks JUST like him, it's uncanny.

Darryl Hannah was for sure diagnosed as autistic as a child.

I can't believe I can't think of his name...but the actor from Pirates of the Caribbean...have you ever seen him in person for an interview? Sun glasses on, smoking (nervous/protective habit?), very quiet/shy...basically nothing like his character.

Bette Midler...I think I remember reading somewhere that she has to take anti anxiety drugs before performing, and has also used hypnosis to overcome her intense stage fright. I hope I'm not perpetuating rumor here...I swear it was her I read about.

Robin Williams would be a strong candidate.

Jim Carrey at least has ADD/ADHD.

Jack Hanna...anyone else think so?? We live in Dayton, and he runs Columbus Zoo, and I just get a vibe from him. I think he's at least ADD.

Thread-jack...

I flipping hate Daria.

She's emblematic of a whole "geek culture" thing that isn't very autie/aspie friendly at all, but rather represents the co-opting of nerdy uncoolness as a way of being non-conformist and "interesting."

Daria's social, she's witty, she's savvy, she has friends, and as soon as she moves out of the house to Brooklyn or Seattle she'll be fine--she's just chosen a different "style" than the kids she goes to school with, largely as a form of self-expression and rebellion.

Kids on the spectrum, 90% of the time, are not constructing an identity to show how nonconformist they are or to make a point. Daria's a social little NT chick who's upping the coolness stakes by being "different." Feh.

ETA: Oh. And I put my vote in for Jane Eyre.
