Potentially silly question

My DS is five and will be home schooled this fall. He was vaxed until 12 months, and then I was introduced to the concept of not vaxing (I didn't even know it was an option) and we stopped after that.
Anyway, do I have to do anything special as far as an exemption form since he won't be attending school? Or are we fine? He's never been in daycare/preschool or anything so I've never had to deal with this before.

I know we have to register with the state to homeschool, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Vaccines are not a law. They are only mandated for school and day care and must offer an exemption. I don't see why you would need an exemption for home schooling.

Nope, the exemption is pretty much only for school (and sometimes day care). You're good to go, unless you want to go through the hassle of getting an exemption just to make it "official."

It probably depends on your state and their current homeschooling laws. Colorado state law requires that we keep proof of immunization in our records. We homeschool through a private school so we only report to them and not to the state. All they had me do was sign a paper stating I was refusing vaccinations for the kids, which I said was based on religious and philosophical reasons. I don't think I had to state any specific reasons, just check a box or something like that.

Personally, I would not go around asking anyone about it unless someone contacts you and demands it. If you have to file papers with the district or state and they are demanding proof of immunization, then look online for an exemption form for your state and give it to them and I would *only* do this if it is specifically spelled out as a requirement in your state homeschooling laws. If legislations does *not* require this, then it is none of the districts business and they have no right to demand it of you.
