My feet have been a little swollen the last couple days but today they seem purple and swollen - is that okay??

I don't know about purple but mine are swollen and very red. Have you been trying to keep them elevated?

kinda hard to elevate them at the moment. but this afternoon I will try and see if that helps.

Elevate and drink FLUIDS and reduce sugars.
Mine for some reason BALLOONED yesterday. Yikes. I had really bad swelling with my son and thought I was getting off the hook this time.
It's really important to try to keep them up. I've been working all day in bed with my feet up and trying to drink water. Watermelon helps too. Mine are better today.

I'm trying the watermelon tonight. I've heard cucumber works, too. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not I elevate mine, stand/walk alot, etc. There are just some days when I'm a lot more swollen than others.

And I bumped into a woman at the deli who is due in 2 weeks and had beautiful, svelt ankles. I was very envious...

I forget what it is like to be able to see my ankle bones!

That's rude. I don't even have svelt ankles when I'm not pregnant. Actually, they are kind of like cankles. A few weeks ago, I was at my midwife appt and she looked at my feet and ankles, and said, Oh you have some swelling, poor thing. Keep them up, etc.

But, actually, they weren't swollen at all. They were just their usual hoof-like selves.

I have to laugh because I have the same problem.

I don't mean to be rude. Sorry if I offended anyone. I just haven't been able to wear any of my shoes for the last few weeks which made attending a formal wedding a bit of a challenge. Oh well. I was just glad I felt good enough to go!

This woman in the deli was also really tall and generally svelt so her ankles were no different. I'd love to be tall too, but I don't think that will happen after the baby comes!

I've also heard that getting enough protein helps with swelling, but I've been really good about protein and still had problems with swelling. I've just accepted that some days are better than others.

I'm also fighting swelling but it's post partum swelling!!!! My feet are ten times more swollen now than they were while pregnant. I sure hope this isn't going to last much longer...I'm embarrassed to go out without socks on!

Not you being rude silly, women who are huge pregnant with skinny ankles and no swelling drive me nuts. These tend to be the same women who wear the same size 2 pants they wore in high school the day after they give birth. I, on the other hand, need to buy some size 10 maternity flip flops...

Have heart! The minute you give birth (ok maybe it may take a few days) your collarbones will miraculously return and you will be able to see your ankle bones again. It was a wonderful day when that happened to me!

Well, I ended up in L&D. In addition to my swollen ankles i was feeling dizzy so better safe than sorry. My BP was high when I got there but after resting a bit it came down. I will just have to make more of an effort to put them up at some point during the day. I will also try the watermelon (yummy!) and maybe I forgot to drink as much water today?
