Crap. What would you do?

I'm plugging away on the lace portion of the Feb. Lady Sweater. I'm to the last 2 repeats on this particular row (row 3 of the pattern if you know it) and realzied I'm missing a stitch. My last patterned row (row 1) turned out fine count wise so I'm thinking I dropped the stitch on the purl row. I am so tempted to just add my lost stitch at the end of the row I'm currently working.

What would you do? Frog back and find the stupid little stitch or do what I want and just add it on at the end? I was doing so well until now! :

I am a perfectionist, so I would hate the sweater if I didn't tink back to the lost stitch.

I would continue to knit for several more rows until it became painfully evident that it was an important stitch and the lace pattern was completely mucked up. THEN I would rip back. But that's not a great plan, you should probably fix it now.

that's what I would do too, even though I hate to take out rows. I hate an imperfect garment even more which is probably why I have a crate full of unfinished projects. :

I'm really laid back, so I would add the dropped stitch somewhere in the next row and call it a design feature, proof that it is a handmade garment.

I think my laziness is stronger than anything else so I'll just add the stitch. I've frogged back to the beginning of the row just to see if maybe I don't know how to count right (always possible ). Here's to hoping I'm math illiterate!

I would find the missing stitch and then decide what to do- whether to pick it up or create it afresh. The last thing you want is your beautiful sweater to start unravelling over the boob or somewhere.

Are you sure you dropped it, and didn't stitch it together with another stitch someplace?

I occasionally have stitches go missing, and if there's no obvious drop, I just add the stitch back in, or skip a decrease, later. But I don't do lace.

No I'm not sure I dropped it. I have a feeling it's been decreased somewhere extra. I tinked back the row that I as working on and recounted. Stil gone. I'm going to tink back some more and find it. My ocd won out in this case.

ETA: Grrr I just tinked back two rows and am finally at the right stitch count. I'm thinking I left off a couple increases because after I got back to the first row of the lace pattern I was missing 2 stitches! : Oh well. Now I'm right and can get going. I really want to finish this by Saturday so I can wear it to a wedding!

I'd make absolutely sure that I didn't drop it somewhere (becuase then it'll just unravel all the way up when I washed it) and if there's no dropped stitch to be found, then I'd chalk it up to a wayward decrease and add it back in.

OM'M did I find your blog recently & comment on it? You keep it super secret & I'm always nagged by this wierd "I know this woman" sense until I realize it's you; then I lose it again!

eta: oh, and I would have totally wanted to add a stitch on to the end; but my OCD would have overpowered me, too *unless I knew I could do it without it being noticeable...

I think it was you. I do keep it super secret...can't give the stalker more places to irritate and stalk me. :

I ended up working on an arm to show that stupid stitch it wouldn't get me down. And then got pissy with the arm because on more than one occassion had a stitch count screw up.

So, did you finish it in time to wear it on Saturday?

Nope. I got irritated with it and started a sock.

if it wasn't totally obvious I would just pick up a stitch at the end of the row.
