OT, but I have no idea
where to put this on MDC, but I thought that maybe if y'all couldn't help me you could point me to the right place?
Anyways, anytime I deal with anyone with regards to my assistance I've been treated like puppy poo, to steal the words from my 3yo ds. And I think what I'm dealing with right now may be tied in.
On the 31st my lease was up at my last apartment - where I did receive housing assistance. Everything was FINE with my landlord (from her point of view - I found her to be nosey, controlling and bossy!) until I gave my 30 day notice, then she became very UNhappy with me. She told me I should have given her more notice(?!?!), then showed the house when I wasn't there (she showed up 2+ hours early!). She claimed she didn't have a way of getting ahold of me. She knew where I was moving to, and had my cell phone number. She is the mail carrier, both at my old place and my new. I've had problems both places. I never got my light bill at my old house, then never got my disconnect notice because it wasn't paid. So I showed up to clean last week and the lights were off. As a result I had to pay a $325 deposit to have them turned back on. Somehow my chest freezer was unplugged and I lost at least $300-400 worth of food
. Then with the lights getting turned off the stuff I had in the little freezer went bad, too
At my new house my mailbox is apparently too short and she's refusing to deliver mail until I fix it. It's the same height from the road as my neighbors - who have no problem - however their posts are a little longer because they're in a ditch.
get a letter from housing assistance saying that they never got my 30 day notice that I had put in the mailbox to be delivered, but she'd told them I was moving. When I called to let them know that was the case I also told them some of the issues I was having. They said there was nothing that could be done, but that my landlord had called upset the day before because I had alot of stuff left in the house and she had someone that wanted to move in immediately and she didn't know what to do. So apparently she'd been in my house AGAIN without me knowing. This was a week and a half ago? so it was fine I wasn't 100% out.
I really don't think I'm going to get my $785 deposit, and I need it (lets not even talk about my $250 pet deposit which I didn't notice the lease said was NONrefundable. Ugh.
I should take a moment to tell you all that my landlord's cousin is apparently my dp's very nasty and bitter ex - who is a little peeved we are moving in together.
I cleaned the house completely - scrubbed all the walls and floors, cleaned the carpets, bought a new shower curtain to replace the cheap on that was there when we moved in. I bought two new doorknobs to replace the two 100+ year old doorknobs that crumbled in our hands at some point during our stay. I painted the stairs. Then I took pictures.
There was one thing I didn't get to. One of the inside doors needed to be replaced because my dog bit it, and although my pet deposit is way more than enough to cover it I bought a new door to replace it, but didn't get a chance to put it in in June. So I called her yesterday morning to see if I could have my dp take care of that yesterday evening and she said it was fine.
However, when he showed up she was not there. He did go in, and found the fridge pulled quite far away from the wall (my lease said not to move it at all cause it would damage the floor) and the bathroom door closed with the water on full blast
. The sink was more than 3/4 of the way full. If he hadn't showed up when he did it would have overflowed. And since she hadn't inspected for any damage to the apartment yet, I think she would have attributed that to me and I wouldn't have gotten my deposit back. He did not feel good about being there, so he left without doing the door. I called and left her a message that he didn't comfortable doing it when no one was there and left it at that.
Any insight on why she's doing this weird stuff? Am I just NOT going to get my security deposit back?
