trying to make a plarn groc bag - need help

Ok, I tried to make this plarn groc bag from this pattern:
http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2007/1...cery-tote-bag/
The finished dimensions should be 13 inches by 13 inches.
I am pretty new to crocheting and well - the bottom was too big.
But it is hard to take apart because of the knots in it because you make plarn by looping the loops together like this http://hakucho.blogspot.com/2007/06/...into-yarn.html
and the knots make it hard to pull apart. So, it is about 18 inches at the bottom and I kind of gradually made it smaller and now it looks like a giant purse. The top is about 14 inches wide and it is about 10 inches tall. Should I just keep going up a bit more at the same height and put in the handle?
Here is a photo of it so far.

Sure why not. it might not be perfect but if you make both sides match it will still be cute cute cute. and if you want one that looks just like the pattern makea secobnd or third. the more you make the better you will get.

I think it's super-cute! Just keep going and pretend that's how it was supposed to look!

This is where I say, "Yeah, I had a pattern, but I altered it".

I think it looks fun, and you'll have a one of a kind.
