I need cheap decoration ideas. I was thinking rabbits would be good for DD1second bday, but am open to other ideas, just totally blank other than rabbits. She loves animals. Bears are her favorite, but she really likes rabbits, cats, dogs, etc. All the stuff at the stores is geared toward certain characters. Not even a generic zoo type theme anymore. Why does everything have to have a character on it!!??

That sounds like a cute idea! Maybe you could find some easter decorations somewhere that have rabbits. You could serve a carrot cake and decorate it to look like a bunny, or cupcakes and put ears and whiskers and a pink nose on them. Maybe you could also find rabbit cookie cutters and use tham as a template to trace and make your own decorations. Maybe there are some rabbit games out there...pin the tail on the bunny with cotton balls? I also can't stand all the characters on kids stuff, it makes me feel like I am using them as walking advertisements!
Thought of something else, maybe a craft project where they could make little bunny masks to wear, or some other bunny related craft project in leu of a goodie bag

I like your rabbit idea.
I would go with plain colored paper plates, cups, etc., and make some rabbit bunny decorations, or even just fun decorations you like and make the cake the "rabbit" part.
With some butcher paper you could draw a big bunny, and they pin the tail on (or put the carrot in the mouth, etc.)
Here's Betty Crocker's bunny cupcakes for inspiration.
If you want to do gift bags, could you get plain paper bags (lunch sacks or cheap gift bags) and copy a cute rabbit image to glue on? Or maybe find some rabbit stamps, but in July that might be tough.
don't forget that rabbits poop often, and sometimes everywhere - I think trails and piles of raisins would be appropriate for this theme.
Have fun!

How about a craft & have them all make their own bunny ears?
I like the theme. I hate all the characters too.
