My baby was posterior most of the end of pregnancy. I'm not sure when she turned...we weren't really sure about the position at my final appointment, and I don't think my midwife even checked when I was in labor. DD came out face down, though, so she turned at some point.
I did have some back labor and it was LONG but not bad at all--magnificent, actually!
Definitely check out the website spinningbabies.com that someone else mentioned, and see a chiro. You can also try talking to your baby and telling him to turn! I did that every day, touching my stomach and telling DD, "Your head should be here, your back here, your bum here..."
If nothing else it's fun...and it helps you connect with your baby, for sure.
And as a previous poster said, water is great...don't know if waterbirth is an option for you, but submerging in water during back labor...ah, awesome.
(This is OT but I'm cracking up now realizing that what I did during pregnancy to tell her to turn is so similar to what we do now to teach body parts..."Here's your head, your back, your belly, your bum...!"
