I've breastfed for a total of 3 years and 4 months now with two kids. This is the first time anyone has said anything to me about nursing in public. And it had to be a random woman at the park, so no nurse-in or lawsuit for me. But the fact that she was a random woman at the park did make it that much easier to say, "No, I'm not going to put a blanket over my baby's head!" According to her, her two boys, about 8 and 10 years old, were staring and not eating their lunch. I was sitting on the grass off by myself, about 75 feet away.

LOL...The first thing I thought of was "This is probably better for them, do you think they would like some?"

So what if you were just playing with your obmoxious kid or soemthing and they were distracted by that? It's her responsibility to teach her kids manners like not staring and to eat when it's time, not yours. I might have followed up with that! I bet she'll blame the teacher when her kids won't pay attention in class too.

My initial response would have been, "Jealous?" Terrible I know but it woud've pissed me off!

Seriously, if it were my kid staring at someone nursing their baby (and I hope they'll think it's so normal they won't have any need or desire to stare), I'd tell him to knock it off and go about his business.

One could hope that she was an equal opportunity nagger, but I bet she doesn't actually lecture all the teenage girls walking around with their butts hanging out of what passes for shorts with the under-20 crowd....

Not that that two are comparable; just pointing out the hypocrisy.
