World Breastfeeding Week

So World Breastfeeding Week is coming up soon (1 - 7 August). How does one participate in this event? Is there a clearinghouse somewhere for nurse-outs? 'Cause I'd really *really* like to get in on one!

This sight has much more information. Check it out many celebrations register through the LLL sight. LLL USA's WBW pages. Good luck finding a celebration in your area.

I am not sure why, but here we celebrate Breastfeeding Week in late September/early October. Anyway, there is a worldwide event on October 11, if you are interested in watching for a Seattle location to pop up (or organizing one yourself!)

ETA: hmm, that is the Canadian link, and it refers to taking part in a global challenge through WABA, but nothing on the WABA website other than what has already been talked about in this thread. So maybe Canada is participating on October 11, but it's not that all sites are doing it on that day There is one US site already registered for the Canadian challenge, though, so it's possible more will be.

For those people in the Cleveland, Akron and Canton areas (or Northern Ohio in general), there is an event on Monday August 4th at the Cleveland Zoo from 10am-4pm for World Breastfeeding Week. There will be fun activities, free prizes and educational displays. At 12:15pm, there will be a group photo taken of all the nursing moms and babies there, with a goal of at least 200 mom/baby pairs nursing all at the same time. The list of sponsors for this zoo event is incredible!! All of the local hospitals, Medela, LLL, Ohio Lactation Consultants Assoc., Ohio Breastfeeding Coalition and some other companies and individuals are in on it. :

When we lived in VT there was a wonderful photo exhibit in a local coffee shop of breastfeeding moms and babies/kids for world breastfeeding week. Some of my dh's photos were in it which was so exciting.
It would be cool to see more of that. A photo of a breastfeeding mom can't be told to cover up

Salt Lake City and Liogan, Utah events

Here in Salt Lake City we celebrate for the month of August by holding a Breastfeeding Cafe in the Downtown City Library. This will be the 3rd year for the event in Salt Lake, and this year for the first time there will be an additional event in Logan, Utah.

The Breastfeeding Café is a community outreach program sponsored by the Utah Breastfeeding Coalition (UBC). This outreach has several objectives:
1. Show that breastfeeding is normal
2. Inspire thought and conversation about breastfeeding
3. Encourage relationships among breastfeeding advocates

August 1-31 Salt Lake City
Salt Lake Main Public Library

On the first floor (Share Space)
Mon-Thurs 10-7, Fri-Sat 10-6, Sun 1-5

August 18-23 Logan

i live in vt and we are having lots of activities this year...including a nursing fashion show, and i'm in it:
