So, we have had a new development on the name front. Besides the fact that all combined parental units hate the middle name we chose there was an unfortunate added upset. My grandmother, with whom I have always been close, passed away the other day. Her passing was expected and in a way a relief. She has had several strokes and was truly no longer herself. She was still in there, but suffering and her death was kind of a peaceful release from the last few years. However, it has brought about a question of namesakeness.
Her first name was Ethel (out of the question!) her middle name though was Marjorie. We figured maybe we could use it somehow.
Which do like better?

I agree that Bronwyn Marjorie is the best combination of the above. Very pretty. Marjorie is also related (in meaning, origin) to Margaret, Marguerite, Margo(t), Greta, Gretchen, etc., so you could also use one of those (or one of the many other related versions) to honor your grandmother, if you preferred.

As a fellow New Englander, I can appreciate the emotion that goes into "Fenway" but at the same time, your families feeling that it may cause some backlash as she gets older. Around here, it may cause too much emotion That said, I'm a FIRM believer that you should absolutely do what you want in terms of naming your child, and if Bronwyn Fenway is where you and your partner feel most passionately - you should not be swayed.

I am also partial to family names - my daughter will have my grandmother's name as her middle - as I think you'll always see glimmers of those who you shared a special connection to in your children and it can be such a beautiful way to memorialize those memories of that bond.

I voted for Magda Marjorie - I love Magda - but I also like Bronwyn Marjorie too.
