We do not eat meat or pork. We are going to go to Big Bob Gibsons in Decatur(sp). I have seen it on the food Network. Any other suggestions?

Well, Big Bob Gibson's is awesome, however, it's a BBQ restaurant, so I don't think they have many meat-free items other than sides. I still recommend buying their sauces and rubs, which can be bought in most grocery stores in the area. They're not at all organic though. Greenbrier is also a good BBQ place and isn't as far away. One of their locations is right off 565, the other is further in the country and is truly a "hole in the wall" place.

Definitely try out Aroma's! It's a local coffee shop that has all fair trade, organic coffee and teas. They have delicious food too.

Papa Gyros (greek) and Ol' Heidelbergh(sp?) (german) are wonderful and our family favorites.

Bento Box is in Madison, yummy!

Terranova's is another favorite, but isn't a hole-in-the-wall place.

Bandito Burrito is pretty good.

Edo's is another favorite, japanese, and not a hole-in-the-wall.

If you need to go grocery shopping while you're here, try Garden Cove. I think it's kosher, locally owned, and the closest thing we have to Whole Foods.

Pearly Gates is a hole-in-the-wall health/alternative foods and goods store.

A Nurturing Moment has breastfeeding and cloth diapering supplies.

If you have any more questions, I'd be glad to help. There are all kinds of hidden fun educational places to see too. Constitution Village is fun.

I forgot to say....if your son is 2, then he'll probably LOVE Tate Farms! The Railway Station is also a hit with little ones. The Space and Rocket Center is one of the main attractions here.

Thank you so much for the references. So far we have gone to the Bento Box. We alos have had Surin that was great as well. We are going to Ole Heidelburg tom night and doing Big Bobs on Sat. and Bandito burrito for dinner one night. We went to the Botanical Gardens in Huntsville and viewed all of the scarecrows. We went to the Bridge street Mall on Tuesday and a Nurturing moment. I ended up buying al ot as we do not have a store that sells most of the CD diapering items I use. Tomorrow we are going to the Space and Rocket center and back to the Bento Box. The heat and Humidity have been quite rough, otherwise I am very impressed with the area as a whole.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's finally cooled down, so Fall is definitely setting in now.

Next time you visit, try out the Recreations and Attractions tab at this site:

I absolutely love A Nurturing Moment! It's run by my LC and she holds breastfeeding meetups, sign language and other classes there.
