How would you respond to this?

A woman in my playgroup just messaged this to me:

However the kids eat is fine by me, but I hate it when a mother just has her kid hooked up to her tatas 24/7 for a pacifier. They are for food not for pacifing. And cover them up in public is what I think. They make hooter hiders for that. I covered up when I was doing it with dd even at home with friends over, I do not want to look at sagging boobs so why would I think my friends would. Yes, it is natural but so is masturbating and we do not want to see that.

btw, the time she nursed her dd was for the first week, ff after that.

I would give her a blindfold at the next playgroup meeting. And then hook any willing children up to my "tatas/boobs/hooters".

I find it weird that she can say "masturbate" (as opposed to "jacking off") but can't find it in her to say "breast".

I would say " I disagree with you- breasts are both for feeding and for comforting. If you don't want to look at my breasts when I'm nursing, then you can avert your eyes. I have no problem with your using a nursing cover if you're more comfortable doing so, but there's also nothing wrong with me choosing not to use one. Nor am I going to change the way I feed, nurture, and comfort my child because of your discomfort. My child's needs come first.

I don't have a problem with your feeding your child with an artificial breast (a bottle), or sucking on artificial nipples (bottle and pacifiers)- so why are you complaning about how I care for my own children? Mothers need all the support we can get, let's not harp on our differences."

If I was in a very snarky mood, I might pretend not to know what "tatas" are and say something along the lines of "of course my kids aren't hooked up to tatas, they're latched onto my breasts!"

I will say that the masturbating analogy is at least more positive than the urinating analogy I've seen before.

I'd say "I promise never to masturbate in front of you with or without a dildo, but if your sexual fetish concerning breasts is interfering with your ability to function politely in the play group then I suggest you get some therapy."

"PS please cover up when you feed your child with imitation human nipples. DD is confused and doesn't understand what a fetish is and why you have one."

Then I would plaster every breastfeeding advocacy blinky known to man in that e-mail and wear "I make milk, what's your superpower" t-shirt to the next play group.

I would just say "I disagree with everything you just said." (Because texting takes me forever so I only send short messages!) Or you mean an IM, not a text message?

It was a message addressed to me on our local message board.

Thanks Ruthla. That is a very eloquent way of putting how I feel.

I would just tell her that there was no way I could disagree with her more.

Is this someone you are forced to spend time with??????

It is interesting that she stole the qoute from Bill Maher. She must listen to him and heck that does not say much about her. Here is what he said:

Hmm sounds a lot like what she put on the message board. I would not even associate with someone like her.

Uhhh, masturbation is not the same as breastfeeding in that masturbation is not life-sustaining. And there are laws against public masturbation. I think the stupidity of her argument is painfully clear and if other's on your playgroup board also received it, I hope they back you up.

I decided to leave the group. People in that group have been making comments about me breastfeeding, an AP for so long that Ive reached my breaking point. Half the time they think theyre funny, but the jokes always at my expense or some other poor bfing mother. Life's too short and I have plenty of other friends who treat me well.

Smart. Life is too good to put up with willful ignorance like that when you don't have to.
