I'd say it's a decent price considering the time of year. If you were asking on November 15, I'd tell you to hang on a few days...a better price is coming.

Definately the turkey. Our stores put chicken hindquarters on sale for 69c per lb. frequently.

I wouldn't pay more than 70 cents a pound for dark meat chicken. I'm getting ready to stock up on leg quarters at 69 cents a pound....that's the cheapest price I've seen in months.

In November? Nope.
Here my local stores do a thing where you buy $25 worth of groceries and you can get one turkey for $.22-$.28/lb (I forget how much it was last year, sorry). So I make a handful of $28 purchases that week before Thanksgiving.
I'll either stick the turkeys in the freezer, or, more likely, roast 'em up, carve 'em, and just freeze the cooked meat and use the carcass for something like nice warm turkey noodle soup or even just turkey broth. Freezing just the meat like that saves me room in the freezer, and I can pull out a turkey breast the night before and voila! Instant lunch and dinner!
Right now the very local store is having a "grand opening" sale because they remodeled a few stores in the region, and they have whole Foster Farms fryer chickens for $.68/lb. That's as low as they go, at least here in my town.

Here it is. It never goes below $1.39 a pound. It's usually $1.69 a pound around major holidays
:. I'd personally rather get the chicken; even though I love turkey, no one else in my family cares for it.

Here .99/lb for turkey is the lowest you'll ever see. It goes to that a couple of times a year, though more often between CND thanksgiving & Christmas.
As for which is a better deal, it depends on when you're going to use them. Are you planning on cutting the turkey up & using it as parts or roasting it.
